I just saw this uploaded today to a channel I subscribe to. Man the Spurs had such a stacked starting lineup that year.

Thanks for posting! :toast
Man the coaches look like babies. It's interesting to see Pop and even RC on the bench for Larry Brown.

This channel has Game 1 posted too, but that one's not too nice a memory for Spurs fans. I really hope they post Game 6 of the series.

I'd actually be fascinated to see Game 5. I was a senior in high school and had something going on the next morning, so I kept trying to get sleep, but had the game playing on the radio as I was trying to sleep and listened all the way through the 2nd OT, so I never got to see all of that game, but I do still remember hearing David Wingate hit a late 3 to send that game into overtime after the Spurs seemed buried in the second half.

Here's a recap from the LA Times of Game 5:

Wingate first 3 of the season, huh?
Sounds like Spurs getting bogus clutch shots against them in the playoffs is a recurring theme

Wingate played for the Spurs that night. His shot -- his first 3 of the season -- went for the Spurs.

But then Rod Strickland happened, tbh.

And then, less than 4 years later, my head emerged from my mother's lips, and the Millennial Messiah of the world was thus born.

And He said to SpursTalk: "Let there be a Spurs Golden Era that shall last throughout my life, with many Championships to come, the first a mere five years away." -(J.B. 15:5 a.k.a. UNT Eagles 2016)

3 OT game. Robinson hitting a 3 to send it to OT. If the Spurs won that game, they would have won that series and would have made the finals no doubt. Game 5 also went to 3 OT. Spurs had a helluva team that season.

That was a great series. The Spurs actually scored more points in the series than the Blazers. You only have to look at one stat to know why the Spurs lost:

The Blazers had 286 FTA's and shot .745
The Spurs had 202 FTA's and shot .693

The editing of that Game 5 video is horrible, it doesn't even have Wingate's three. I hate when NBA TV does that with their Hardwood Classics series. How do you not have the last 5 minutes of regulation and the first four of the first OT?

I thought the same thing. I mean, they had 6-8 minutes of pre-game talk that could have been edited out to make room for the last minutes of regulation and the 1st OT. I'd rather they cut some 1st half footage than the most critical parts of the game!

Whoever was in charge of editing that footage down to 2 hours should be fired...

The Hardwood Classics games on NBA TV are in general very poorly edited. I have a Hardwood Classics copy of David Robinson's quadruple double game and they actually fucking edited the part out when he clinched the quad in the fourth!

they didn't use to be

I remember watching NBA TV religiously as a youngster in like 2001 and 2002 and pretty much every game was in its entirety unabridged aside from maybe a few occasional free throws by bench scrubs in the 2nd quarter, etc

Funny thing is, those wide view shots of the Memorial Coliseum arena, my family's seats were immediately in front and to the left of that camera. I cow;don't lose...Spurs win and I'm happy...Blazers win and I get to go to more playoff games. That dunk by Drexler (or Kersey) after Rod turns the ball over was the loudest I ever heard that arena.

I remember Willie Anderson on a breakaway at the end of regulation of game 7 and screaming he got fouled with a no-call that made it go to ot. I was a kid though and haven't seen that replay since.

Well you have the '99 championship, game 5 in Manhattan, after Elliοt's victorious toss of the orange Spalding into the stuffy June air trapped in duh Garden... such a glorious moment, as one set of Twin Towers reigned in the ultimate degree of athletic triumph at center court inside the building, another glimmered on the exterior a few mere blocks away, almost as a victory cry to the world that America was the greatest, and the Spurs were the greatest of all in America.

& just a few short years later, both sets were gone. Amazing how Father time works sometimes.
