“I was pushing him hard. I don’t know if you saw but every timeout I was screaming at him and encouraging him, and I’m very proud of him because you never know when he’s going to come and nobody said it was easy. Last year he was on fire but every Finals is different,” said Parker.
The talk from Parker seemed to have worked as Green hit two big shots for the Spurs in the fourth where the team offensively exploded.
When LeBron James exited the game due to leg cramps, the Spurs aggression was very apparent. The head of the snake, the man that runs the Heat was not on the floor. Spurs took advantage, and Green was a big part of that.
“And Itold him after the game I was proud of him and you have to keep playing,” Parker said

I feel sorry for Green having to play with such a selfish PG, this guy has to defend Porker's man on a nightly basis & bail him out on offense with his lights out 3pt shooting. How many times have we seen Porker's dribble dribble only to get bitched by a shot blocker and kick out to Green in desperation after he kills our offense? Too many.

Green, Manu, Duncan all took pay cuts, but Porker can't. Manu and Duncan took a break from summer play in order to give 100% to the Spurs, meanwhile Porker is selfishly playing for his national team, dragged Diaw a long as well smh.

This is obvious. Tim has two more years max and Manu is likely retiring after this season, while Parker will be around for the duration of Green's contract. It's common to want to win for a teammate when you know they're leaving soon.

Let me ask you this: why didn't he mention Kawhi? Or Patty?

A likely scenario in the Heat locker-room.
An assistant coach, " Hey I'm not sure if you've noticed, but their 2 guard Danny Green keeps shooting the ball from real far away and getting 3 points almost every time."
Lebron, "Wow 3 points? Maybe you're on to something there? Anybody know what he's talking about?"

Truth bombs... Danny Green has to check the other teams pg, because Tony is too slow and fat... Danny then has to shoot 3s with like a second or two left on the clock because Tony loves to dribble out the clock... (Because he's too slow to blow by his defender)

Damn it Chinook, you're subtle enough to be sarcastic here but you pay enough attention to detail to make this sound plausible.

I'm actually being serious. Green has on a few occasions gone out of his way to avoid praise. This off-season's "I took what I was worth" is just the latest in the line.

From USA Today about his defense in the 2013 WCSF:

OAKLAND – Danny Green was leaving the visitors locker room at Oracle Arena late Friday night when a reporter was hoping to pass along some well-deserved praise.
"You see those numbers when you're guarding (Golden State guard) Steph (Curry)?" the man said to the San Antonio Spurs guard.
"Nope, and I'd rather not, but thanks," he said with a smile before heading for the exits.

You know Green was avoiding talk about his performance in that year's Finals like the plague. I don't know if it's a focus issue or about keeping a chip on his shoulder or what, but Danny doing that national interview really hurt him that series, I think. He was unquestioningly the star, so he couldn't do the usual pass-off. Frankly, I think he's glad that Parker's there to take shots and credit for him. He's glad that Kawhi and LMA are there for that same reason. Seems like an interesting dude. One of the most media-friendly American Spurs about off-the-court stuff, but perhaps the most understated Spur about his own on-the-court stuff.

He's good with facts. The waters are a bit choppy once he ventures into opinions.

Whereas you have proven to be the opposite.

Parker has aways been the annoying, arrogant, still thinks it's 2005 demeanor. Manu realized the long cool hair was gone and gave the throne to leonard. Tim is just a freak of nature who is always slim and fit and still the man. As for tony, well, he's always fatter

Lol revisionist history. We lost in 2013 because Evita joined the Heat organization mid series. It was the biggest betrayal in Sports history.

This might explain why Danny left a significant amount of money on the table to stay with the Spurs. He is obviously comfortable here, and may not have wanted to be a #2 option on a worse team, even for more money.

He's pretty smart. Right now, he's 5th all time in playoff 3G% (42.9), and has more takes and makes than anyone else in the top 5. If the Spurs make 2 Finals runs and 2 second round exits, that could be about 60 playoff games over the life of his contract. He could vault from the 34th in made playoff 3P well into the top 10. He has such a high take AND make rate that he just needs playoff games to inevitably climb that ladder.

OP is an idiot; but the quote exists. When you search for the quote in the title, all you get is links to this thread.

If it's a paraphrase, don't use quotation marks.

Both are pretty much worthless when it comes to basketball.

The quote is from right after the Game 7 vs LAC. It was broadcast live. I heard it once or twice but haven't been able to find it on YT. To the best of my memory, DG did lament not winning for Tim and Manu while leaving Parker out. I didn't make any special note of Parker being left out cos I'm not a Parker vs. Kawhi troll. Manu and Tim frankly are better teammates though. I think the quote reflects that reality.

i think it reflects the fact that it was very uncertain whether Manu and Tim were coming back for another season and it may have (at the time) been the last cha ce to compete for a title with the two of them. Look up on spurs.com sometimes they have those interviews archived. I would look myself but have no Internet and I am posting from my phone which is not an über modern tablet type phone....

There's a 5/2/15 interview labeled
Danny Green - Postgame 5/2/15 (http://www.nba.com/spurs/video/archive#)DG is still emotional; and he does lament not winning for Tim and Manu. But the interview on the court after the game is the more iconic / more emotional interview that I think is being referenced. That is not directly posted. But if I find it in the TNT postgame or whatever, I'll post it.

How kind of you to assume I'm a decent enough human to get married! Living in my Mom's basement at 40 yrs old gets tough to bring people home to start a relationship. Though I do meet interesting people at work (I'm a Walmart greeter). At this point, I don't care if the person is male or female. Lips and butts don't even have a gender. You seem like a nice enough person. PM me and maybe I can come to you ;)

Robert Horry said it best during his interview like 1-2 yrs ago...

"There is only one guy on that team that cares about attention, and that's Rique."

If having that kind of attention allowed me to be with Eva Longoria and bang Erin Barry on the side and a million other groupies, you'd probably do it too TBCH.

Rique fans are ridiculous. You don't have to b teammate back-stabbing, attention whore to bang hot women. Timmy is the greatest teammate of all-time and hates the attention yet is banging that Vanessa chick.

Yep disgusting how Enrique fans on here defend his actions. Brent is a stand up guy too. Pathetic.

So Parker boned your wife, and now your tiny dick won't satisfy her. Even Brent Barry got over it - you should, too.

Being Danny Green's favorite teammates doesn't mean shit, except that Danny likes them better. So fucking what? I guarantee you nobody is putting YOU on their list of favorite teammates. Why would they leave you off the list? Because you're a fucking broken record, that's why.
