Man, that late 90s-Early 2000s era of HipHop and R&B was amazing. I remember being in the 4th grade and hoping to finish my homework asap so I could play basketball and listen to some Jay-Z or DMX or Ja. Those cats were running the rap game but there were so many artists making great songs in that time period too. The R&B scene was fire as well with artists like Sisqo, Case, Usher, Aaliyah, Craig David over in the UK and a bunch of others making hits. So many classics from that time period. It's crazy looking back that most of those artists dropping those gems were essentially kids in their early 20s.

It really hurts my soul knowing what DMX is going through these days. Just from listening to his music I know Earl Simmons has so much pain, sadness, and rage within. That man is a tortured soul. Things like Aaliyah's death and Kato's death only increased the pain in his heart. However, Crack cocaine is not the answer. I can't believe dude refuses to leave the drugs alone.
