Big Golovkin fan primarily because I had my eyes on the dude before anyone even peeped him out. Saw him at the Stubhub Center at the Bradley-Provodnikov fight; and dude was just strolling around and no one knew who he was. He walks right pass me and I’m like “Triple G, what’s up patna? Shook his hand and my boy begged for a picture. So Golovkin made me get up and take a pic with him. Real cool dude and funny when he tries to speak English and his shit is so broken. Then everyone kinda bum rushed him. Sat right in front of us.


As far as the fight goes, I think he better watch out for Lemieux’s power. Dude can slug. Golovkin’s chin is well tested especially by Curtis Steven’s who was kinda like the Earnie Shavers of 160. The hardest hitting dude at 160 who once fought at 68. GGG walked through many of his bombs. So it should be a really good scrap….. looking forward to it. Just think GGG wants to unify 160. That’s why he fought Rubio, to get that WBC Silver belt to make him the number one contender for Cotto’s belt. Trying to get him in the ring. Then up to Ward.

When Hopkins shocked everyone and fought Kovalev, it left Stevenson in the cold. AS thought B Hop was gonna fight him but Hopkins has no contract with any network. He can fight wherever. And what I love about Hopkins, win, lose or draw, the best fight the best. Sergei has three of the four titles while AS is considered the lineal champ (the man who beat the man who beat the man).

Funny thing was they were supposed to hook up but Kathy Duva, Kovalev's promoter, pulled out. Shocked everyone because she bitched and bitched about the fight happening and when it was finally about to happen, she got cold feet because Haymon probably would have won the purse bid and had the fight on CBS or NBC in primetime and not on HBO. She probably didn't want to sever those HBO ties. So she backed out of the fight. She actually tried to sue Haymon after AS went to Showtime. Now the fight is in her lap and she backs out. Haymon got people shook. Best thing that can happen to 175 is if Andre Ward moves up.

You bring some valid points ... part of why his fights are not "exciting" is because no one can hit him ...and that is half of boxing hit and not get hit back. Leonard is the only one I saw fight in his prime (off the guys you named) and I loved Ray but PBF was the most consistently great fighter I ever saw. He never came out of shape, never failed to exert his will on a fight. Yes he ducks, dodges and holds especially as he aged but if you really appreciate tactics and defense PBF was one of the best to ever do it.

naw. Cleaning up 68 is not on SOG's mind. He already cleaned that up during the Super Six and defeated a lot of great names. People know his skills and resume and was the number two P4P for a long time. He's looking to cash big checks and the biggest fight for him financially is with Kovalev or Golovokin, more so Golovkin. I'm not gonna say GGG is scared but I would favor SOG over GGG. Main problem is Ward wants the lion's share of the money but people don't come to see him fight there's a reason why he fights all the time in Oakland. He can't draw and his style is boring. Wouldnt be surprised. Manny vs Floyd sucked and at least eight people on my street bought that fight. No way people were shelling out 75 for Berto. Plus with the 4.4M buys from the Manny fight, Floyd and Showtime really coulda fought Berto on free TV and still would have made a profit over the six fight deal. Gotta hit at least six million to legitimately break even over the deal. Showtime made a little scratch.

Kovalev fought his last fight at 174. Probably rehydrated to 185 on fight night. Ward's last fight was around 172 and he walks around at 180. Think he can be made.
