I am not going to bash Tony Parker because he has given us so much.

But the fact that when his shot is off he is a bad shot waiting to happen is very evident as of now.

Other than a suspect 3pt shot he has been unable to add anything else to his game, also falling in some categories he was quite good, like the midrange.

I hope he trains a lot this preseason and figures it out, because he is going nowhere.

They might have just lost the championship or at least their shot at it.

As great as this off season was, Parker was always going to be the key. They absolutely need something resembling league average starting PG play and at this point, it's difficult to imagine him being able to provide that.

He's still in the process of figuring out what he can/can't do, but his decline was always going to be steeper and a more difficult adjustment than Duncan and Ginobili. Being able to create offense for themselves was never what they were almost solely reliant on to have value; it is for him.

In his defense, there's virtually no precedent in league history for a player of his size having the mileage he's accumulated at his age. It's not just the games/minutes, but his style/utilization too. No one in the league did more running, at as quick a pace and few attacked the rim as frequently, particularly for a player with a slight build.

He probably can't believe he's fallen as far, as fast as he has and probably thought injuries and not being as committed as necessary in recent off seasons were the primary reasons for it. He also probably thinks that both the Spurs (at least pre-Aldridge) and France need him to be the go-to offensive player, in order to be at their best. I don't think he's inherently or intentionally selfish.

The main issue is that he hasn't found a niche. He isn't a shooter, defender or natural ball-distributor so he doesn't much to offer besides trying to play of a washed up scoring point-guard. Pop has to adjust & redesign the offense around Kawhi/LMA & phase out Tony.

Pop didn't have much of an option last year w/ Patty being injured in the regular season & then getting abused by Austin Rivers in the playoffs. This year the team has three scoring option on the starting lineup (LMA/Kawhi/Tim) thus Tony won't be FORCED to be a playmaker unless he has a mismatch or is in a groove. If he can't do the bare minimum then he getting benched in the playoffs (ala Manu against the Clips) as long as Patty is healthy.
