Being anti-capitalism and trying to get people out of poverty seems like a conflict.
in capitalistic, free market USA, capitalism has pushed into and kept many 10Ms in poverty and near-poverty, with little statistical chance of escaping. Socioeconomic mobility has been declining for 40+ years in USA, such that "social democracy" Europe has BETTER Socioeconomic mobility. Capitalism is fantastic for capitalists, everybody else is mostly fucked into wage poverty and wage slavery.

“There are elements of nature worship, and I would say that contrary to some of the criticism, that this is not communism that has entered the church, it is rather paganism,” Gene Koprowski, marketing director for the Heartland Institute warned a collection of reporters.
“I think that if we have a pope who doesn’t keep things in an orthodox manner, we’re gonna be having forms returning to the religion that are not orthodox,” he added. “I think we are seeing a revelation of a sort of animistic form in the church.”

it pisses people off that the Pope doesn't bow at the altar of capitalism.
to be fair, that's not the Pope's job and it never has been: he's a pastor. his views on justice and the economic structure of the world aren't much different from his predecessors.
When Francis released an apostolic exhortation, Evangelii Gaudium, just a few months into his papacy, it got enormous attention—perhaps in part because it’s so prickly. “Some people continue to defend trickle-down theories which assume that economic growth, encouraged by a free market, will inevitably succeed in bringing about greater justice and inclusiveness in the world,” Francis wrote. “This opinion, which has never been confirmed by the facts, expresses a crude and naïve trust in the goodness of those wielding economic power and in the sacralized workings of the prevailing economic system.”
“The Church for the past 10 popes, since Leo XIII, has consistently criticized socialism and capitalist ideology.”

it's just a custom. not a silver bullet that fixes everything. still less is it ethos or morality or any kind of coherent value system.
indeed, it's defining trait is axiological neutrality. anything and anyone available for a price.

“I don’t know,” Smith responded. “I think we are in a weird place in the world when the following things are considered political. Five things, I’m going to tick them off. These are the five things that were on his and our president’s agenda. Caring for the marginalized and the poor — that’s now political. Advancing economic opportunity for all. Political? Serving as good stewards of the environment. Protecting religious minorities and promoting religious freedom globally. Welcoming [and] integrating immigrants and refugees globally. And that’s political?”
What else, he asked, do people expect to hear from a Catholic pope “other than protect those who need help, bring in refuges who have no place because of war and violence and terrorism. These seem like universal truths that we should be good to others who have less than we do, that we should give shelter to those who don’t have it.”

Ted Cruz Wishes Pope Shared His Fetish For Killing People
http://img.wonkette.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/cruz-ascension-1.jpg
Ted Cruz (R-Catholic Church), defender of all sperms, which are sacred, and all life, which is precious, and yadda yadda insincere baloney farts, is displeased with his pope and thinks he is just plain stupid WRONG. Now, as we vaguely understand or perhaps misunderstand Catholicism, mostly from watching Godfather movies and that one dickbag priest on the payroll at Fox News (http://wonkette.com/tag/jonathan-morris), telling the pope he is stupid WRONG is Not Kosher.
But during his address to Congress on Thursday, the pope said (http://24live.co/81l) the death penalty is bad and wrong and violates the Sanctity o’ Life, so BOO HISS AMERICA, STOP MURDERING PEOPLE. And yet, somehow, according to Mr. Ivy League Debate Skillz Cruz, that is some kind of easily dismissed hippie-dippy, hug-the-whales, save-the-trees, drive-a-hybrid papal bullcrap, because what kind of True Pro-Life Pro-Lifer doesn’t believing in killing people (http://www.politico.com/story/2015/09/ted-cruz-pope-francis-death-penalty-214023), huh?
GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz said he disagrees with Pope Francis’ call Thursday to abolish the death penalty, calling the use of capital punishment a “recognition of the preciousness of human life.”
In an interview with POLITICO shortly after the pope’s historic address to Congress, the Texas senator said he respects Francis’ views and the Catholic Church’s teachings on the issue, but “as a policy matter, I do not agree.”
“I spent a number of years in law enforcement dealing with some of the worst criminals, child rapists and murderers, people who’ve committed unspeakable acts,” Cruz said. “I believe the death penalty is a recognition of the preciousness of human life, that for the most egregious crimes, the ultimate punishment should apply.”

Krazy Kruz, pro-life really means only pro-birth. All other life is expendable, because God wants Krazy Kruz to kill people

It is worshipping money over people.
People are more important than money. Interesting that it takes a world religious leader to rub the right-wings puppy's nose in the poo of own hypocrisy.
People don't like that, but man is it fun to watch fox "news" try to de-christianize the leading christian on the planet.
