Saudi is a disgrace to humanity. The international community should sanction this corrupt and sick government.
These religious fanatics are hypocrites of the highest order, they will take not 1 single Syrian refugee, but offer to build 200 mosques in Germany to spread their backward wahhabism poison. How many Christian churches in Saudi Arabia? I am outraged and ashamed of every U.S administration that have supported that regime, our government hypocrisy is nauseating.
And one last thing: name ONE thing that has come from this absurdly wealthy nation that has helped the planet, and I don't count oil. One invention, one vaccine, one ANYTHING. NOTHING comes from them except oil, and beyond that, they just take. I repeat: the Saudis are our enemies, and enemies of the West.
Ali al-Nimr was a minor when he committed the crime of free speech. Executing him is definitely the wrong thing to do.

Yep.

But they are stable. We have seen how well removing authoritarian regimes has worked out in the Middle East. The only place in the Middle East that can throw out their leaders without chaos is Israel. So agree with the above.

What is your suggestion? What do we do with this repressive brutal group? And don't fool yourself, our politicians know what the Saudis are about.

Btw. They had another stampede and hundreds of people died. They have trouble controlling mass religious events. I think they would rather not host these things truth be known. Things can get out of hand and it scares the piss out of them. They are very sensitive to what free press and large numbers of people can accomplish just like any authoritarian state.

Terrible analysis. Saudi LOVES to have multiple holy cities in their territory. They basically can influence about 1 billion people and are untouchable. Can u imagine if Saudi is actually invaded by foreign forces? 1 billion ppl would immediately join a jihad.

Saudi adores having the pilgrimage and holy cities.

Since you are too lazy to post a link:

US talk show host Bill Maher raised al-Nimr’s situation on television a few days ago, encouraging viewers to stop fretting about the American Muslim who was arrested for bringing a clock to school and instead show some concern for the Saudi who’s going to be crucified for attending a protest. “If you haven’t used up all your heroism hashtagging for the clock kid, maybe do it for this guy,” Maher said.

You think the Saudi government enjoys having a mass movement of all different sects of Muslims AFTER the Arab Spring? You totally don't get the Saudi government. You need to do some reading. You have no earthly idea what you are talking about.
None.

If they could be considered the Mecca of everything Islamic without having massive numbers of people migrate in that would be peachy. But that's not how it works.

UK and Saudi Arabia 'in secret deal' over human rights council place

Britain conducted secret vote-trading deals with Saudi Arabia to ensure both states were elected to the UN human rights council (UNHRC), according to leaked diplomatic cables.

The classified exchanges, the paper said, suggest that the UK initiated the secret negotiations by asking Saudi Arabia for its support. Both countries were eventually elected to the UNHRC, which has 47 member states.

now we know why Saud bought their way to the Human Rights Council:

Saudi Arabia sinks UN war crimes probe in Yemen. The Netherlands dropped their bid to establish an independent UN-led probe into alleged war crimes in Yemen, yielding to an alternative resolution proposed by Saudi Arabia, which stands accused of causing most of the civilian deaths in the conflict.

According to Amnesty International, many civilian killings in Yemen can be considered war crimes. In September, UN human rights chief Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein called for an independent, international inquiry into alleged war crimes in the country.

The document was opposed by Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, all members of the council, as well as the Yemeni government in exile. The Saudis allegedly won their place at the council through a secret deal with the British government, according to the cables exposed by whistleblower website WikiLeaks.

While the Saudis kept pushing for their draft resolution to be passed, the US kept mostly silent on the debate, and didn’t voice support for the Dutch proposal.
