This is not a bashing or d*ck riding thread, just pure facts, straight outta NBA per Kevin Pelton. One of the best NBA analyst out there may I say.

The short bus is the one that annoyingly uses fond memories of 2007 to justify disputing proven data and analytics.

Somewhat related, I noticed some players were raving about Patty in the pickup games they had last month...

It is going to be season with plenty of media scrutiny for Parker..the mainstream guys have finally caught the analytical types and both will go to town on his decline/role especially if he proves to be liability to the team..

Makes sense, tbh. Tony starts and beats up on the competition, and then takes a rest while Kiwi stat pads against the bench players.

Kawhi's one of the most impactful players in the league.

"But but he's so overrated by the media :cry "...The media just look and talk about his stats.

These numbers have been discussed here before, tbh..we're finished with the Parker sucks/Kawhi is great threads, they're played out, in all honesty(OP is a good poster, not criticizing him in particular)..the only posters that still spam with Parker shit are the worst posters on ST that people generally ignore(GreatYacht, Kool Love, etc)..the media is late to the party, as they always are with declining ex-stars(see: Rondo)..

no question Kawhi is more important for the Spurs, but there are no alternatives to TP being our starting PG to get through he regular season... just accept that Patty is an energizer off the bench and Ray an unknown Spur newcomer

u telling me there is no alternative to enrique over the years?

all the spurs needed was a smart pg, not a jealous hero

yes, TP is not the most likeable person, but you TP haters do what you got to do ... the best and most beautiful offense ever played (2012) and the championship team of 2014 were orchestrated by TP (he "trusted his teammates")

he is on a downslide and hopefully he uses his remaining talents efficiently in the upcoming season ... again there is no alternative

The good thing is that with Kawhi and LMA, Enrique doesn't have to do much. Just bring the ball to half court and pass it. A little more than that and he's compromising the offense.

Would be good to see this stat vs other players in the roster.

It might just be that Kawhi has an overall positive impact on the team and the team will just do worse when he's not on the court, in general.

:wow

So let me get this straight. The Spurs' net rating was better with Kawhi on the court and Parker off the court....again shocking news.

:lol Needing a tweet clarification....When it is something that 99.9% of us could tell be watching the games last year.

Not need a "tweet clarification"...I know the Spurs' net rating was better with Kawhi but I had not read the real numbers until yesterday

Tony Parker was god awful last year. TBQH...he's not even worthy of a thread at this point. With the way he played it would be like making a Matt Bonner thread.

When somebody makes a thread with his name in the title....this is exactly what happens. A bunch of short bus references and porker name calling is all. I don't need some tweet to tell me what I can see with my own two eyes.

And btw....I don't think this is the first time I've seen these stats. Pretty sure they've been posted before. Actually, I think it was a 3 charts showing every single players offensive rating, defensive rating, and net rating with all of their teammates on/off the court.

I think Parker may need to take a Ginobili role: 20-25 mpg. I don't see it happening though.

Tony Parker (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/players/21781/tony-parker?_ga=1.198344173.377726476.1424758072)

You can find columns addressing his many issues here (http://www.poundingtherock.com/2014/12/9/7355541/spurs-quarter-season-review-part-1), here (http://gothicginobili.com/?p=7573) and here (http://hardwoodparoxysm.com/2014/12/31/need-talk-tony-parker/). The TL;DR version is that, excellent three-point shooting aside, Parker hasn't been himself this season. He has a negative net rating (-2.6 (http://stats.nba.com/team/#!/1610612759/players/advanced/?sort=NET_RATING&dir=1), in fact), the worst defensive rating for any rotation player besides Marco Belinelli (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/players/24213/marco-belinelli), a below-average PER of 14.9 (worse than Cory Joseph's (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/players/150317/cory-joseph)). Most worrying, he's been worse than a replacement-level player, according to basketball-reference.com (http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/parketo01.html). When Parker's been off the floor, the Spurs (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/teams/san-antonio-spurs) have an Offensive Rating of 105.4 and a Defensive Rating of 96.3, numbers that would trail only the Warriors (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/teams/golden-state-warriors). With Parker on the floor however, the Spurs are essentially the Sacramento Kings (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/teams/sacramento-kings).

As a playmaker, the "pass" button seems to be stuck on Parker's controller. His assist-to-turnover ratio is 1.94, which would be the second-lowest of his career and is absolutely miserable for a point guard. He has totaled 44 fewer assists than Manu Ginobili (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/players/21775/manu-ginobili) in 45 fewer minutes. As a scorer, Parker's getting to rim less than ever, just 24.4 percent of his shots coming at the rim and 44.4 overall in the paint. He's averaging just 2.4 free throw attempts per game. Parker has yet to regain his quickness since hurting his hamstring and it's a fair question whether he ever will. Remember, he's already 32 and more dependent on his athleticism than Ginobili or Tim Duncan (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/players/21776/tim-duncan) ever were. It's quite possible he'll age in dog years compared to his "Big Three" brethren because he doesn't have that ethereal level of savviness as a "Plan B," that they've shown.

It's worth remembering that Parker wasn't very good last year either, certainly not over the second half of that season and then in the postseason. The Spurs won it all anyway, memorably with Parker sidelined in the second halves of clinchers versus Portland and at Oklahoma City. But he wasn't this bad, and it's doubtful in the extreme that the Spurs can mount any kind of meaningful title defense with him in his current state. It's gotten to the point where I feel a bit relieved when Joseph or Patty Mills (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/players/71950/patty-mills) subs in for him.

but he's a Spur legend, leave him alone :cry :madrun
