The Panthers beat the Jags/Texans/Bucs/Saints before having their most impressive win of the season today against a Seattle team suffering from a SB hangover. Beat the Packers and then we can talk.
:lol yet you pick a team that has a turnover machine at QB with a terrible defense in a weak division instead. Whatever man, ignore the fact that Carolina beat a team who is 28-2 at home with RW as a starter. Ignore that a team who doesn't have their best receiver beat a team full of all-Pro secondary members.

with kelvin Benjamin you're basically the Seahawks of the last 2 years. Decent option QB, average oline, lousy receiving corps, great defense (especially in the secondary). Meh

i don't care about the next 5 weeks, i only care about the team being healthy for the post season. We have the deepest and probably youngest offensive line, still it sucks when tackles get injured.

The big reason why that comparison doesn't fly is all the rule changes between 2000 and now. The days of being able to Dilfer your way to a SB are over.

As for this game, the Pats' secondary is going to prevent another SB unless a mid-season trade happens. McCourty has gone back to being the overrated, mediocre safety he was before he had Revis to make him look good, while all the corners sans Malcolm Butler fucking suck. Kinda sucks since this is the best offense they've had since '07 and their pass rush is no longer the liability it has been for close to a decade.
At least BB/Kraft can pat themselves on the back for playing hardball with Revis!

Devin McCourty (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/5824/devin-mccourty) - DB - Patriots (http://www.rotoworld.com/teams/clubhouse/nfl/ne/patriots)
NFL.com's Albert Breer reports Patriots FS Devin McCourty (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 17.
Third-round rookie Duron Harmon will start in McCourty's place. McCourty is in the midst of a fine season, grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 1 safety heading into Week 17. Whether it's a Wild Card or Divisional Round game, McCourty should be ready for the Patriots' first playoff game.

i'm not deflecting, the QB is the most important player of the offense. if i say "the offense" you can assume i'm assigning a large portion of the blame on the QB.
i do think they need to consider shaking up the RB spot. lynch has underwhelmed and rawls seemed like a good replacement option. wilson hasn't played poorly enough to warrant being benched, and its not like they have some rock star backup ready to spark the team anyway

he needs to play better in the 2nd half of games. their backup qb is tarvaris jackson, so you can troll/over-exaggerate all you want, but Wilson will continue to be the QB of the seahawks for the foreseeable future.
i do like that he and jimmy graham really appeared to be on the same page for the first time all season. that connection should be enough to get their offense over the hump

they were also good friends with each other, which partially explains the fall-off from the crazy good year (second half of 2013 season where they both went nuts on defenses, remember the blizzard game) to last year's relative mediocrity. you can get snaps and still not be considered . i'm not disputing his suckiness so far, i'm saying he is finding his niche and it takes time for a qb to consider him as a legit option instead of a last option choice. And plus his grade is always going to be terrible, considering he can't block.

I'm not going to complain about Palmer. Cardinals have had so many shitty QBs in this history it's great to have a QB you expect will lead you to wins, and who fulfills them 7/10 times or better.
But I do wonder why he can't consistently be great.
He missed so many gimme throws today, and forced too many things when the offense seemed to be running smoothly, that I do wonder if very good and occasionally great but with several duds is going to be the ceiling?
The penalties across the entire team hurt just as much, but Palmer is the QB and needs to step up against bad teams with 2nd and 3rd string QBs when the defense has dominated for an entire half. Game should have been a 20+ lead at half.
Mental Midgetry. Whole lot of the team and staff.
This team doesn't have "it"...

Cardinals were up 19-0. They had opportunities to be up 27 and could capitalize. They floundered as an entire team. Even if they win tonight they have been exposed. Great teams don't let all the little shit snowball into epic fail.

It is possible for this team to be both talented enough that out scored Seattle 19-0 to begin the game and 14-3 to end the game be inconsistent and mentally-stunted enough to be out scored 29-9 in the middle, including two consecutive strip-fumbles in the fourth quarter.
This wasn't ever about my fandom waning. It was about how my objectivity as a fan sees a talented but flawed team whose issues are still concerning a whole month after I was first concerned with them. Things haven't gotten better. Still sloppy, careless, and unable to maximize its game-changing opportunities.
The win is nice for the record, but you are not your record. Any given game these issues will bite them in the ass, and, this holds especially true vs better teams like those played in the Playoffs.
My main point:
It sure would be nice for this team to not give away points so often and stop playing only half the game due to mental lulls.

It sure would be nice for this team to not give away points so often and stop playing only half the game due to mental lulls.
This could describe any of the NFC playoff teams at this point.
The Cardinals look as good as any of them.

There is a chance Marshawn Lyncyh might be done for the season, will find out soon.
Now keep an eye on Thomas Rawls, the kid has some serious jets, No no no no not the power back Lynch is (ya think) but he has better speed and agility and he does run hard,

I hate being right. But everything I said in this thread is absolute truth and why the Cardinals almost lost last week and did lose this week.
I'm thankful to have a competitive NFL franchise. Cardinals were the Browns a mere 10-12 years ago, and the Clippers of the NFL farther back than that.
So, going to playoffs back to back years, and netting 10 or more wins for the last three, and setting franchise marks on offense is a huge step forward.
I'd not change the front office or coaching for just about anything.
But it's clear they need to focus on needs, not just talent.
They need OL and LB help. Badly. Their pass blocking was poor and pass rush worse.
Now, maybe Cooper/Humphries put it together and this helps, but they need at least one more impact veteran.
And they need at least one downhill edge rusher.
But, even more than talent, they need to take a look in the mirror and figure out why they can't seem to take advantage of game-changing plays.
Be it the Peterson muffed punt right when they were getting into the game, or Palmer's red zone special right when they could swing momentum before half.
Coaching, scheme, player execution, all need to be examined.
What a shitty way for the year to end.
I'm glad Arians said what he said.
It isn't a good year unless the confetti is falling for you.
