To prevent this scenario, the Syrian Kurds will have to keep their cool and act rationally.”

These are important moments for a country whose leaders are no longer selected by the military. He came to power democratically, since then he has made a big power play. As far as I know the party nomination rules are not just "whoever get the most votes or public support" they have party colleges and conferences and the old establishment people ultimately decide. Not to mention the real $ still has not been poured on the candidates yet. Once the $$$ starts pouring onto the establishment guys, it's game over.

This is exactly what happened last time around and Mit Romney. and has happened every single election cycle.
