Would you rather the Spurs win a championship this year and Tony get MVP, or Tony plays terrible and he is the reason for the Spurs losing the Finals.

For Parker to get more assists he would have to have the ball in his hands more. I thought you guys didnt want dribble dribble dribble anymore? Make up your mind kiwitards

Funny how Manu has a respectable APG playing limited minutes and without having to dribble dribble dribble.

No shit just look at the usage rate formula. The Pork can't get his shot off or get to the line so of course his usage rate is low.

Still has the ball in his hands enough that he shouldn't be Raul Neto though.

Porky is actually doing his job. Handing the ball to Kawhi/LMA & getting out of their way. As long as he attacks switches to keep the defense honest then he can be a decent game manager. Tim is basically the point-forward of the team b/c of the high-low.

No shit just look at the usage rate formula. The Pork can't get his shot off or get to the line so of course his usage rate is low.

Still has the ball in his hands enough that he shouldn't be Raul Neto though. So would you rather he force shit up? He's doing the right thing and moving the ball. Manu has always been a better playmaker than porker so I don't see why you madde the comparison.

FkLA

USG: Usage Rate - the number of possessions a player uses per 40 minutes. Usage Rate = {[FGA + (FT Att. x 0.44) + (Ast x 0.33) + TO] x 40 x League Pace} divided by (Minutes x Team Pace)

Exactly. You're acting like his APG are low bc his usage rate is low, when in reality his usage rate is low bc he's not getting any assists (and struggles to get his shot off+draw fouls).

So would you rather he force shit up? He's doing the right thing and moving the ball. Manu has always been a better playmaker than porker so I don't see why you madde the comparison.

I'd rather he be useful. You act like his only options are to be Raul Neto or a heroballer.

2. Who cares - you're telling me you'd rather have Jarrett Jack than Parker just because his APG is all the way up at 8?
3. More ISO this year and more Leonard handling the ball

And this - http://stats.nba.com/tracking/#!/player/passing/?sort=POTENTIAL_AST&dir=1 - more potential assists vs. actual assists points to guys missing shots off his passes. Green's cold as we all know, etc.

Most of his points were on drives/tear drops and backdoor cuts. Had maybe one midrange jumper IIRC. Still hasn't made a three all year and poses no threat as a shooter. His defense today wasn't a liability simply bc he was going up against the slowest starting PG in the league.

He has seemingly accepted a new role. That doesn't mean he doesn't have the ball in his hands a lot just that he's not going heroballer on us. Your trying to defend his poor APG by suggesting he doesn't have the ball in his hands often...and using usage rate as your reasoning which is just retarded.

Jesus just look at the formula for a second. You can claim he's playing within his limits (less FGAs) but you can't really say he doesn't have the ball often, that's not what the formula represents.

Porky is actually doing his job. Handing the ball to Kawhi/LMA & getting out of their way. As long as he attacks switches keep the defense honest then he can be a decent game manager. Tim is basically the point-forward of the team b/c of the high-low.

Good observation, less usage, just taking care of the ball before it ends up in LMA, Kawow or TD hands, not forcing any shots, those should be sufficient for TP as a starting PG.

Of course it does. And he's embracing it both on and off the court. Tony should be commended. He was All-NBA only 2 years ago, so it takes a lot of maturity to hand over the reigns. Very Robinson-esque.

That's the thing man. The original Parker v manu battles always revolved around this. People bitched about Tony not having assists, which was dumb because as a scoring point guard he always brought points and the spurs offense always reduced assist numbers because of post play ave secondary passes. It's just dishonest to say Parker was not following instructions every year but possibly last year.

Fkla is an old manu fanatic, so I'll give him a pass, but this is all old old arguments being rehashed.

Meh that's a misleading stat tbh, as Parker's role this season has diminished considerably, and Aldridge has yet to really find his rhythm on his long jump shots, otherwise Parker would likely be averaging around five assists on those pick-n-pops alone.

With that said, seeing as how the Grizzlies are not a serious contender anymore imo, I really wish we could trade Tony for Mike Conley tbh. And throw Gasol in there. Those guys are going to rot away on that roster, sadly.
