A kid loses an arm and will get sent to the bin, while a 39-year old man tries to defend himself and will get booked with attempted murder..

This would have happened regardless of whether or not Air Jordan's existed. In a perfect world with no Air Jordans that kid would have stolen some other material good of high value.
