Very early in the season.

Shooting the ball felt good ever since I was a kid. It's the easiest part of Basketball for me. Can you actually shoot? Do you play ball at all?

true, but we have manu replacement Kyle Anderson.
I think you are trolling, but he's not ready for that at all.
The way this game played out, I am sure he could have spelled someone else for a few minutes. Butler played very good though and made some nice shots. This game is on everyone else. If anything, I think we are fine on the 4th wing department, which caused everyone to claim ridiculously that we are not a championship team because those two.

Of course it's frustrating. Spursfan is spoiled too, tbh... we all knew going into this season it was going to be hard and require patience...

Yeah, t's kind of like the theory vs. the reality. We knew the season would be a work in progress, but watching a sloppy 20 TO game is a hard reality to swallow. :wow

It gets harder in the game. Even Tim Duncan chokes sometimes.

If you're talking about being a "shooter" then watch Kawhi warm-up, he rarely ever misses.

Kawhi's not a pure shooter. As they say, most NBA players can hit open shots or shots at practice, but in games it's another story. He's worked hard at it, but he's not a great shooter. He's a good shooter, I'll give him that, but I don't think he's a good enough shooter to use jumpers and his main form of offense. A good shooter has better looking misses when wide open like Kawhi was. Those bricks looked like Lebron's at the end of game 6. Unfortunately for us, Lebron got bailed out by his teammates.

The game was over when Beal was able to square up without anyone in the vicinity. He used LMA's momentum to elude him w/ an escape dribble. That's a play the Hawks run for Korver.....the Wizards played the Hawks in the 2nd last year so I'm pretty sure Wittman stole that play from Bud.

It's gonna be a long year on ST if all we are going to see here is folks choosing up sides on which ONE player lost the game. I saw more than one player make a defensive error or miss a critical shot in the 4th. While we can have differences of opinion about the level of play on players in game grades, I hate to see us getting into the vicious cycle of scapegoating one player in every loss.

Yeah, I think we have the same take. Give Manu, Rasual and Kyle (and maybe Danny) a "pass" and rip everybody else.

At least Danny may have found the road back to confidently stroking his 3.

Lamarcus for sure had a bad game. He won the Celtics game for us down the stretch. It was a team effort of course, but he rose to the occasion. He was lost here all game. Priority no. 1, we have to get him right and going on. Then work on everyone else, seriously.

Kawhi is ready for his role, but Lamarcus is lost among all the shuffle. Many other guys played terrible. Even as bad as they were they had a shot to win this if they had cleaned up their mistakes. No need to rush this.

Lamarcus and Kawhi both were getting doubled pretty badly, and there were no cutters or others looking for a pass. Their execution was horrible, just horrible.

Nice intelligent post when most the others are busy finger pointing and cliff jumping. Thanks.

I never said he was a pure shooter.

You didn't, but I was responding to you saying that Kawhi hits most of his shots in warmups. I was just saying that most people know that NBA players (guards/small forwards especially) can hit most of their shots in warm ups. It doesn't mean they are good/great shooters.

btw, I've seen some good filipino shooters, but unfortunately some of those guys got screwed with lack of height and athleticism.

Yuixafun
11-04-2015, 10:15 PM
Not everybody was bad - mostly just wildly inconsistent. Some good, some VERY bad. But Manu was generally good, Butler was surprisingly good, playing himself into more minutes. And Kyle was good in short minutes.

Silver linings 😀

No, I was just saying that it naturally becomes harder when you're shooting it with the game on the line. Everybody chokes, Kawhi and LMA did but to call him mentally weak, a choker? OKC and Boston games, he was clutch in the 4th.

We have good shooters in our NT but we're still using the traditional way of bball which is driving and forcing to the lane, stupidly so since we dont have the size.

At first, it was TP vs. Kawhi haters. Now it's "everyone's a bum except TD and Manu". It's ridiculous, really. Reading these posts, you'd think the NBA is a 16 game season like the NFL.

Too bad Danny didn't leap out on Beal while he was escape dribbling, there wasn't enough time to make another pass to Wall. It would have at least caused a pattern interruption in Beal's movement.

We have good shooters in our NT but we're still using the traditional way of bball which is driving and forcing to the lane, stupidly so since we dont have the size.

I'm not using this game as the only example. I've seen Kawhi brick too many jumpers in other games deep in the 4th quarter. I'm not talking about game winners, just jumpers in general. I think it's mental with him and he tightens up when the pressure is higher. That's my opinion on it. I'd rather he try and get to the rim rather than take jump shots. I just don't see supreme confidence when he shoots it in the late stages of games. If you don't have confidence in your shot before you shoot it, then it has no chance of going in.

You are right about shots being tougher with the game on the line, but I don't care about someone missing the shot if they shoot it with confidence. I can live with that no problem. Stephen Jackson is a prime example of what I am talking about. When he was in his prime, he shot the ball with no fear. If he missed it, I was OK with it because I knew it wasn't missed because he was scared to shoot it. That's the kind of shooter I am and that's the kind of shooter I like to see. I just don't see that with Kawhi's shooting late in 4th quarters.

As for Filipino ball, you're kinda forced to play a certain way because of your lack of size. Being a good shooter is something a lot of the best Filipino players have in their arsenal out of necessity. It sucks that some of these NBA players are in the league mostly because of their great genes.

.

Can you shoot a basketball? Can you hit the rim? Yes or no?

Should of won like the OKC game, but it's all a process. Pop's rotations need to get better. Counted this game as a loss on the schedule. Hopefully we will see continued improvement/chemistry but tonight felt like we took a step back. Long season to go.

I totally jinxed us. It isn't shown in the "Beal into my seat" video with 30 seconds left, but my 2 year old was in a Parker jersey and after Beal grabs the ball he looks up, sees my son, and rubs his head. Of course right after, Parker hits the 3 to tie, and then.... Beal wins it.... Fucking Porker.

There seemed to be a lot of Spurs fans in DC. That's nice to see the crowd cheering for a visiting team.
Everyone blaming LMA, Kawhi or Parker yet Mills and Danny had some careless turnovers and did not really play well. Diaw doesn't care either way lol

Relax everyone. It's an adjustment period. LMA has only played a few games with the spurs, he looks uncomfortable right now.

TP is playing so much fucking better than last year, Manu is playing like a 28 year old, Tim is the fucking rock, Kawhi is developing into a MVP and DPY candidate, etc.

We're good. When LMA starts hitting his jumper, no team can touch us. WAR SPURS!
