The father (Fishburne) is a royal pain-in-the-ass.

The best part is when Gooding is crossing the street and the bangers roll up, stick the heater out the window. Just like that. It was just his lucky day.

True, very good scene...and it's handled well even though it's quaint on the surface. Why? Well, they don't rush it, they take their time and are thorough.
