View Full Version : I miss Tiago :(
Atlanta is a good team but he was never meant to be with a sorry ass franchise like that. He belongs with champions. :lobt:

Tiago is the missing piece right now. If the Spurs had somehow been able to keep him instead of West (cough, Parker's extension, cough), then the team would be rocking right now.

If it's a choice between Tiago and LMA the decision is an easy one...as much as I liked Tiago.

Tiago would have made that easy read on the switch. Instead we get Aldridge.
But seriously Aldridge will be fine. He's an Ok defender.
It's West that is the issue. If Tiago was here, the spurs wouldn't need west. Tiago-Diaw-Aldridge-TD- is the best big rotation in the league.

Conversely we could be 5-0 as we had leads into the closing minutes in every game. Close games are effectively coin flips. Speaking fairly a 2-1 roadtrip is not a bad thing.

Really the problem is that we miss a C who can play D against most teams. Tim Duncan saves us but it's not ideal. Without him his team would suck tbh. No rim protection and bad d from our PG.

Nope, don't miss him at all. Good riddance, tbh. He was an injury-prone, unreliable, weak finisher at the rim. What he provided on defense when healthy was fantastic but that was too seldom.

The issue now is Faggy Green shooting 15% & turning the ball over.

Right now, Tiago is probably huddled in a hotel room somewhere, writhing in agonizing pain of a bruised right forearm. Out 3-6 weeks...maybe, we'll see, that is, if the cartilage surrounding the 4th rib on his left side is healed from the mysterious lack of blood cells oxygenating it.

There was a really small window in which Duncan and Tiago could play together and it's closed. Now had Duncan retired everything could have been different with Splitter, but that didn't happen.

Sacrificing Splitter to get LMA was a good decision for this season and the next 4 years... I liked Tiago (as well as George Hill), but I'd say RC & Pop ultimately made the right moves in both situations.

Even without the Parker extension, it would have been very hard to keep Tiago. Perhaps you're thinking CoJo cap hold + Tiago's salary is about what Parker's was, and could have gotten Aldridge done with that amount?
Once extension was signed though, nothing that could be done.

Signing LMA was smart, and not even risky at all-- the salary cap is going to jump dramatically in the near future and both LMA's and Kawhi's deals will look like incredible bargains. Max deals in two years will be in the 30mil+ range... In the worst case scenario, if LMA never acclimates or fits in with the Spurs, he'll be easy to trade... I don't anticipate that happening, but either way, it was brilliant strategizing by RC & Pop.

I've been wondering if there is a chance Roy Hibbert doesn't work out with the Lakers and if he could eventually get bought out. Anyone here know how he's fitting in there? I was thinking about that the moment he was traded there. I think if he's bought out then the Spurs would be his number 1 choice.

Only Tiago and Kyle were able to understand what Coach Bud wanted to say. And Bazemore, well, you stand in the corner and shoot from 3 pointer when you get the ball.
