Before there was "The Beautiful Game..." there was Manu Ginobili.

That is all.

it's rather surprising that he was never nicknamed "The Game" since he is the very definition of how bball is supposed to be played.

I think he was trying to talk about 2011, but Spurs didn't even have the best record in the league; Chicago did, by virtue of tiebreaker.

Yeah and the Spurs werent playing as good down the stretch either. I think Dallas would have beaten us in the end anyway, that team was a mission that year and they took OKC, Lakers, and Miami.

Third best spur of all time.

Fourth at best. Destined to be fifth behind Kawhi. And that's putting him above Parker.

Do you remember Manu carrying the corpses of Keith Bogans, Roger Mason jr, Damon Stoudamire, Michael Finley, what was left from Bowen, Fabricio Oberto and Francisco Elson to some of the best records in the league? Now that's some impressive shit. I can only imagine what prime Manu could have done with this new talent around and style of play.

A bit arbitrary and incomplete video of his best plays, but there are no words to describe the last three...He has been so clutch, one of the most clutch players of all time.

I think that given the roster we have, this team would be better with prime Manu and Tiago than it is with current Manu and LMA. The passing, playmaking, and ball movement would just be so lethal.

Prime Manu with the team of the last few years would have had a very strong case for regular season MVP, imho.

Nope. No chance really, considering that Manu would have played only 33/35 minutes per game.
Manu at his peak was great (he still is, but you know what I mean), but would have not played enough minutes to be considered an MVP type player.

And Manu wasn´t the only one carrying those teams, come on!

So? Manu has received MVP consideration/votes in multiple seasons despite never playing more than 30 mpg. Manu on his prime, playing on this new Spurs would have been a beastly combination. He probably wouldn't have won it but I think that with the Spurs dominating like they have done in the last couple of season (even more with a prime Manu), winning over 60 games and finishing with the best record in the league, he could have ended top 3 in MVP voting at some point.

I have two plays in my mind that are better. One was in the playoffs I think and Manu steals the ball and is running down the right side when he spots another Spur streaking down court in the middle. An opposing player is between them, RUNNING, back to cover and Manu somehow throws a pass through the guys running legs to hit his teammate perfectly in stride for the layup. I've seen him thread the needle with passes through another player's legs many times, but to hit the pass when the guy is in motion running away from him takes timing that is unbelieveable, not to mention balls of steel to even try it.

The second play I'll never forget is from the 5th game of the last championship. We were making our run to take back the game. Kwahi had just put us ahead by one. On the next trip downcourt Manu went through several Heat players to dunk the ball. That broke the will of the Heat and clinched the championship, even though there was a lot of time left. Game OVER!

I vaguely remember a play like that against the Rockets, I want to say it was around 2009 or so.

since you're watching blocks..

I can never find the dunk on howard and diop by itself, or at any decent quality, but IMO that play was manu in a nutshell.
