He was bad in the 1st half, but that 4th quarter may have been the best defense I've ever seen him play, tbh:lol..also helps going against Rondo, of course..

TBH. Rondo played 48 minutes so he was pretty much gassed by 4th quarter from chasing Parker in first half.

If you consider what Cojo is being paid by the raptors, Patty is a bargain.

which poses the question, can we afford to keep him past this season?

I do not have exact numbers, but with everybody talking about how the cap will rise next year, this should not be a problem. Not if we sign Durant of course :lol

Easily, having in mind he's under contract next season. :lol

He also owes the Spurs a hometown discount. Just remind the lil guy where Gary Neal is and that the Spurs have developed him into an NBA player.

Nope...under contract for next season too. Just over 3.5 million. Fucking highway robbery for a player like him.

Parker: 6/10 (60%) for 13 pts

Dude killed it for me in fantasy basketball. I tried a new system and Mills was super cheap and I figured that since Pop plays the bench a lot, it wouldn't hurt. First half I was regretting picking him up... then that fourth. Nice!!! Definitely paid off for me. :D

That shoulder injury absolutely robbed Patty of a career payday coming off going balls deep in Miami at the Finals..still only going to get paid $3.2 for 2016-2017 ..holy shit :(..Spurs better throw a loyalty sweetener in the next deal :lol

He played excellent defense on Rondo -- he gave him open looks. That's the best thing you can do, Rondo might have the worst shot in the league for a non-Center. :lol

Also, out of the games I've seen him play this year, Patty has been fairly consistently bad. Not terrible, although he's certainly been terrible at places. Just generally bad. He's had a couple of good quarters. Nowhere NEAR steady enough with the ball to be a starter yet -- it would be a disaster against the defenses in the West.

He was on Knicks/Jackson radar as far as i can remember, but i think a lot of teams got cold feet when it was announced that he would miss 7 months after the surgery (a shooter with busted shoulder? high damaged good potential)..i'm sure he would have gotten more than that by Spurs if he hadn't suffered that that health setback..

Patty isn't sniffing 13$ million per annum ever...and he is only 27...his next deal at 29 and even with cap space rising i'm not sure he'll able to notch half of TP current salary in 2017 though his elite shooting will keep him in demand for the Spurs and rest of the league imo..He does have that niche, which Parker is found lacking in his twilight, steep decline years..

Regardless, overpaying for the sake of loyalty is what happened with Parker. With the way the salary cap is jumping around, who knows what will seem "reasonable" when a few years.

Our cap space will probably be spent retaining our own guys, just like so many other years. Patty will command a raise for sure.

It's almost silly at this point. Patty was garbage shooting, but the few shots he made looked reeeeeeal pretty. Solid 9 point game.
