Hey guys, don't know if any of you have ever noticed this but Kobe Bryant from the Lakers doesn't have a great FG% at the moment. I wonder if we could compare it to Tim Duncan's and make judgements then?

11/14 in 23 minutes :king...can't wait for the playoffs; he could easily be 15-10 guy at 40 age while certain TOSB played his last meaningful postseason at 33 :lol

Glad he chose to rut in Memphis for the rest of his prime..I was never even that high on LMA but i think he is better fit with much higher ceiling in the Spurs system dow the road..is it really stretch to say, defensively, FatGasol and current TD is a wash?

Seems like he enjoys being the 6th option.

Seems like he enjoys being the 6th option.

:lol he's averaging a double-double to go along with 3 assists and a block in just 27 minutes per night.

It is the preseason after all, he's got to conserve himself for this thing called the playoffs (next time you run into Kobe tell him to think all the way back to when he was 33, he used play in them)

Those are Kareem-like numbers... I think when Kareem was 38 or 39 (back around 1987), he shot around 55% if I'm not mistaken. Dont know if he did it with as few minutes as Duncan plays though and Im certain he didnt match those boards, assists and blocks but I could be wrong... My memory is a bit hazy and I dont really feel like googling that shit right now. I just remember the hype Kareem was getting at that point in his career ("how does he do it at his age???") and Duncan just quietly goes to work like a machine with hardly a passing mention because he is on the Spurs.

People look at Duncan's scoring and think he is regressing at an alarming rate (11.4ppg) but it's simply not the truth.

He is averaging a career low in points, and his usage rate has plummeted due mostly to the number of weapons on the team, and also the type of offense the Spurs are running.

On a per 36 minutes perspective, it's true that Duncan is averaging a career low 15.1pp36, but on the other hand, he is averaging a career high of 4 ap36. In terms of total output, and assuming 2 points per assist (should be more given how many 3 pters the Spurs shoot), Duncan is generating 23.1 pp36 minutes, which isn't that far off from his career average of 26.8pp36 (still a career low though).

He is also focusing more of his effort on defense, where he is averaging 11.6pp36 (slightly above his career average of 11.5), and 2.6 bp36 (fourth highest in his career, and highest since 2013, and before that, 2005). He also has a DRtg of 92, which is 3rd best in his career and ORtg of 113, also third best in his career.

Sure we are not looking at 2003 Duncan here, but at his age, which is almost 40 years old, it's amazing that he can still perform at such a level.
