To be fair, Duncan barely jumped after his injury early on. I'd say it's remarkable he managed to be so good with almost no athleticism (compared to freaks like Blake Griffin or Robinson)

To be fair, Duncan barely jumped after his injury early on. I'd say it's remarkable he managed to be so good with almost no athleticism (compared to freaks like Blake Griffin or Robinson)

I remember someone commentating maybe that injury helped prolong his career, because it made Timmy go to an Old Man's game much earlier than otherwise.

In a way that's probably why he's lasted so long and can probably could keep playing for years if he desires. He's lost some lateral quickness, but otherwise his play has been the same Old man game for years. He's still got the height, length, IQ, instincts and experience. I kid you not, he could play until mid-40's if he wanted to. Now that Kawhi and LMA are doing the lifting on offense, he can morph into one of those stodgy defense only centers for the last 4 years of his career.

Exactly. Controlling for athleticism, Tim Duncan is the most skilled player ever. He made it to #5 on the blocks list with his timing and strategy, not with insane jumping ability.
