It's a stupid decision any way you slice it. Who's to say they wouldn't have scored the TD by running the ball?
By running the ball you make all or most of the next things happen: can score the TD, make them use their only TO left, Kill more time, have less chances of turning the ball over.

I think the Giants are best equipped to guard the last minute drive because they have an old school coach who wisely refuses to play prevent defense. Prevent defense is awful 97% of the time it is used in the NFL and only should be used when there's like under 30 seconds left and NO timeouts.

not to mention he had 10+ inches on the defender. If a big guy like that needs extra help from the refs, the NFL should cease to exist. It's like in the NBA when some 6'10" pussy tries to take a charge on a point guard instead of blocking the shot... should be a blocking foul 100% of the time regardless of the "restricted semi-circle".

You don't know for a fact if Pats would have fg'd or not with a 1:10 left.
If Beckham doesn't drop the pass there the Pats would have had around 2:06 minutes, a TO and the two minutes warning to go for the TD. Almost the same % of chances (if not better) of getting a FG with 1 minute left and no TO.
Seriously, there's no scenario in which you can look at it and justify the decision of passing the ball instead of running.
If the Pats get a FG with 1 minute left and no TO, you just shake their hands and move on with the calm of knowing that you did what you had to do.

Doesn't make a difference for the one seed, and tbh would rather see green bay in the NFCCG than a Cards team that looks to be the only team as good or possibly better than us, even though the steelers loss was embarrassing :lol
Week 10 GB is far inferior to what weeks 18, 19, 20 GB would be... Rodgers is deadly if you give him a chance when it matters, tbh...
MultiTroll
11-15-2015, 10:19 PM
If Beckham doesn't drop the pass there the Pats would have had around 2:06 minutes, a TO and the two minutes warning to go for the TD. Almost the same % of chances (if not better) of getting a FG with 1 minute left and no TO.
Okay so you have just stated it's 50/50. :lol

Okay so you have just stated it's 50/50. :lol
Yeah, with the little difference that for my 50/50 scenario to happen you just needed to run down the clock and there was no downside (meaning=worst case scenario you get the 50/50, which would be leaving the Pats with a minute to go and no TO to try and get the FG). While with the shit Coughlin tried he would have got the 50/50 scenario in the best possible scenario for him (getting the TD) and with a lot of things that could go wrong (as they did by not running down the clock, not getting the TD and not forcing the Pats to use their TO eralier). Quite a difference, don't you think?. :lol

Panthers remaining schedule:
home vs Redskins: easy W
road @ Cowboys: could go either way, hopefully Cowboys are smart and tank that
road @ Saints: could go either way, Saints are struggling and may be mailed in by then though
home vs Falcons: should be a W, Falcons are falling apart
road @ Giants: should be a W, but can never count out ELIte in a 4th year
road @ Falcons: should be a W, but Falcons could be fighting for 6th seed by then
home vs Buccaneers: easy W
I don't see Panthers losing more than 2

With no TO? No, I seriously can't recall one.
And no, it wasn't high reward. As I said above, the Pats would have still had the 2:06 on the clock, the TO and the Two minutes warning to go for the TD. If the Giants would have just ran down the clock they would have had a bigger % of winning.

no question a dubious playcall, but if Manning had held it a fraction of a second longer it would have been the 2 minute warning and the Giants would have forced the clock to wind down to 1:20 or less with no timeouts for NE no matter what.

I've said it already:
This team is full of half-tards prone to full traded tendencies.
They struggle to be consistent.
They struggle to make the plays put in front of them.
They struggle to play smart (coaches here, too).
They struggle to maintain momentum.
They just so happen to have a shit ton of talent.
If Iupati is out long, they will struggle to keep Palmer upright.
Iupati isn't great at pass blocking, but he's part of a very good line and a fantastic run blocker.
I honestly don't trust this team at all.
Great teams are all the things this team isn't, at least most of the time.
This team needs the other teams to fuck up to be great.

Balls aren't brains.
Never should have needed to flex their manhood. They left a dozen plays and about 10 points on the field, plus whatever those plays keep off the scoreboard for Seattle.
Both fumbles were complete breakdowns in protection.
Throw in the Palmer Red-Zone Special from the 6 in the first quarter and that's three unforced turnovers costing them 21 points. Never mind that Matthieu had two interceptions in his hands and Okafor rolled over the ball in the end zone costing a TD but netting a safety.
Game could have been 50-14.

Don't overthink it bro. The NFL isn't the NBA, as long as you get to the PO you're good. Anything can happen on a single elimination game.
If it was just today, I'd chalk it up to some bad plays vs a divisional rival.
But the Cardinals have done two things almost all season:
Failed to make the game-changing defensive plays (except vs Chicago, San Francisco, and Detroit).
Failed to take care of the ball when in scoring position.
They have allowed multiple teams to come back to beat them, or make big leads one-score results. They have had numerous bone-headed play calls, and multiple others that just seemed untimely.
They just have a shit-ton of talent.
They have 7 offensive weapons that can go for 75+ and a TD any given week.
Plus three Tight Ends with solid red-zone hands.
And their defense is so talented they aren't even playing their top defensive FA signing or fighting to get back Darryl Washington.
Yet they have two crappy losses and no wins vs any team over .500.
So, again, I have legit concerns.

Folks trying to justify that here. :lol
I just got caught up on the thread....
I totally agree with what you're saying. You run the ball in that situation 10 out of 10 times. If the Giants pass play (the OBJ play) on first down took 6 seconds instead of 5 seconds....I'm not even having this conversation.
An incomplete pass (which stops the clock) one second before the two minute warning? As a coach...you've got to know better than that. That's why I run the ball every time in that position. This run defense talk and Giants can't run the ball talk is nonsense. I don't care if it's the '85 Bears you're playing....you still run the ball.
The clock stopped two times in 6 seconds....when it should have only stopped once. If you can't understand that...then I can't help you.
