Seriously. I can't really think of anyone like this that teams missed on this badly?? It's crazy. I mean how can everyone be wrong - I thought it might be fluky last year. I understand he has an attitude problem but he's flat out dominating.

Huh? He was playing in Lebanon and couldn't even get training camp invites just 2 years ago:lol..it's literally unheard of in NBA history..you can find a lot of guards and forwards that came out of nowhere to become productive NBA players, but the 7-footer in basketball is always a prized commodity, even in today's league..

I can see not wanting Okafor, poor FT shooting and a project on defense. But the answer is to trade down, not draft D'Bust. If you really want a PG grab Mudiay at 5-7 and get another late first to play with.

I've always wanted to trade down but majority of the Laker fans doesn't have the foresight tbh lmao. I wouldn't even pick a PG in this draft :lol I did want Stanley Johnson though plus additional picks/fillers for # 2, but I do have a massive hard on for Porzingis now. He isn't even just a productive player, too, he's an All-Star:lol..

Most likely he proved to be a knuckle head during his first stint in the NBA & got blackballed from the league. If he was a lazy knucklehead like Andrew Bynum/Javale McGee then that would scare away a lot of teams. Otherwise, DeAndre Jordan was more of a project than Whiteside when he came into the league but DeAndre had a good work ethic.

Most NBA teams aren't going to sign lockerroom cancers unless they are a proven commodity. Cousins could be traded for being a knucklehead despite him being the most talented/dominant bigman in the game. The Knicks basically dumped Z-Bo for peanuts when he was in his prime.

The reason Whiteside even stuck w/ Miami was b/c he was able to play right away as their entire roster was decimated & he didn't have to be buried on the bench waiting for an opportunity. If he was a camp invite then he might have been cut b/c he probably didn't have a good work ethic. Teams will take a scrappy end of the bench guy over a lazy but more talented player.

Larry Sanders is out there to be had but nobody is touching that guy w/ a 10 inch pole:lol

Porzingis......very nba ready.

Atlanta is on a heavy slide...losing to brooklyn.

The Eastern Conference is highly competitive. 13 teams under 1 game...or..damn near 50%

The West is much worse than it was before. Golden State..plays tonight. I'm waiting on it. Gonna watch their run till it dies. They play Golden State. With as much doubt as the league continues to place on them, they will dominate this game easily.

Whiteside with the triple double 10-14fg 14 rebs 22pts 10bs. Reminds me of Dwight's triple double years ago.

This is truth. I mean, I follow the combine/draft/players going overseas and I never even heard of the guy until he erupted last year. It would be like Upshaw disappearing for the next 3 years, everyone forgetting about him (well not really because Lakers), and coming back on the scene in dominant fashion.

Not going to happen.

I know he was extremely arrogant and gave horrible pre-draft interviews where he would tell teams that he didn't believe he had any flaws, etc, from what I've heard:lol..still, though, it's unheard of that a 7-footer that wasn't even getting invites comes in and dominates at this level..

Most teams aren't going to risk signing this type of player to a big deal, as even the are currently afraid, reportedly, but for the $ he's currently receiving, it's ridiculous..

I wouldn't be surprised if he turned down camp invites b/c he wanted a fully guaranteed contract. He probably had the same arrogant ass attitude as All-Star Bynum before he ever stepped a foot in the NBA. You can't blame him considering the quality or lack-thereof skilled 7 footers & Thabeet being the 2nd overall pick in the previous draft class.:lol

He signed w/ Memphis TWICE but got waived twice right before the Heat picked him up most likely b/c they were intrigued by his skillset but were hesitant to give him a guaranteed contract considering his attitude/volatility since they already had Gasol/Kofus.

You can't also blame Riley for being hesitant to pay him consider the history of 7footer w/ questionable work ethic & lack of passion for the game who fell off once they got paid:

-Bynum
-McGee
-Eddy Curry
-Larry Sanders
-Dampier
-Jerome James:lol

Yep, based on what we saw in 10 games sample, barring a major trade or injury,it is very unlikely they would make up 6 games over the closest competitors for 8th seed..

It just took one Curry steal...an impact play to change Toronto's confidence and throw them off. I simply knew Toronto would turn it over after that because they were answering every other shot with an isolation or score off pick and roll.

Golden State scores effortlessly. By their expressions, they were just waiting for their opponent to go cold. They weren't worried at all about generating offense.

Most Raptors fans here have finally realized that, although I run into some that still believe in him:lol..I've been criticizing him for years, I used to get a lot of opposition IRL about it..

He's completely useless when he doesn't get to the FT line, too..

Valenciunas is a waste of potential, at this point..they didn't develop him, at all, Casey was the worst possible coach for him:lol..he's also extremely soft and has never learned how to play team defense, sadly..

Derozan is one of the biggest black holes in the nba. It's amazing TOR does as well as they do offensively. But that might change as the year goes on. Lowry shooting really well from 3 to start the season and things might fade.

They are just so terrible to watch offensively. They can be ok defensively, but GS is really good. They just do everything well.

A ball stopper. Yes. Isolation dependent. Very. And yes...net negative...and so are all their starters.

I think Derozan might have gotten fouled on that last play. Need a replay for that.

Lowry, carroll are fine. Scola is a shiity defender but a smart offensive player.

Derozan is ptretty much their offensive negative, and jonas is lazy on D...but the coach cant bench them. I would guess of derozan is not playing, the starters would have better movement.

Its very important to note that the last 3 possessions in which Toronto scored was generally successful mid wing isolations and one pick and roll play for lowry. Those were last 6 seconds on the possession deseperation plays. Then golden state came up court and scored early in the shot clock knowing immediately what they wanted to do.

Immediately after the timeout, they tried horns off of ball movement but Derozan failed to score.

Klay Thompson looks disinterested this season....like he's saving it. He's overshadowed. Maybe that's a good thing..because people already doubt golden state as it is. Saves room for him to prove them wrong if they won't guard him hard.

He's shooting about 60 percent..8-13.

Iggy playing back up point....has 6 assists lol. wtf

Demare Carroll on weakside hammer plays got them back into the game. They finally went to a more elaborate offense. Its still not going to be enough but at least the game looks more respectable from Toronto.

When compared to most teams, they really don't. There's a difference in playing poorly, not executing or having some lapses vs having a legit hole. They don't really have any legit holes. Doesn't mean they perform at optimal level 100% of the time in every facet.

Suffering without Shaun Livingston right now setting the tone of pace. Thought they would last but not they seem to be the team settling for ballstopping plays: isolations, post ups, and standing.

Its not a clear path foul.

Demarr Derozan is effective if he immediately moves after he receives the ball. Their offense of screens and hammers needs to happen immediately. Granted, Golden State hasn't been great on weak wide defense and taking care of the ball tonight.

They're stacked on personal fouls tonight...24 to 13 and freethrow discrepecny....25 to 11 attempts.

Livingston is great close out point guard.

The result tonight isn't surprising. Golden State shot 54% on the game and won with.

Curry had a quiet 37 point game. Very quiet. Shot 56% percent 13-23/5-10 9ast 7to.

They had 20 turnovers, gave up 39 free throw attempts, had less rebounds. Still won.

Their quality of play wasn't that elite tonight but elite enough.

Curry looked agitated in that post game like he didn't really want to talk. Guy may have been upset about his play; unappeased. He needs to relax

But i heard that he does not fit... :depressed

Look I was kinda skeptical about the money he was asking for but he has proven to be every bit as valuable on both ends. His value as an outlet when teams trap Curry is priceless. ESPN wrote a great article (that amb posted) that focused mostly on the attention that Curry generates with the "gravity" of his range. But the other key part of the article was how Draymond makes the rest of the offense go. he ia averaging almost 7 assists as the "hot route outlet receiver" when teams blitz curry.

I think to beat Gstate over 7 games barring injury you have to lock down curry with a player like Kiwi or Green with man to man defense.Basically put him on Revis island. Dont trap him. I would do a soft hedge and then recover. I would only blitz him in transition because in that case it's a scramble drill anyways and someone will be open and I would rather anyone else shoot a wide open 3, even Klay.

but when you trap Curry in the halfcourt when Green is the screener Curry hits Green at the top drives towards the FT line and is dishing to Bogut/Fezeli for lobs or back to out to Klay or steph for 3. And they force that action because teams cannot go under screens when they play Curry .. they need to switch, hedge hard or blitz. But Curry is like Phillip rivers ...he kills the blitz.

The current Spurs were constructed to defeat the Dubs.
-Danny/Kawhi on Curry/Klay
-Elite bench that can neutralize the Dubs bench
-Dominant/versatile frontline that can match-up w/ any lineup the Dubs put on the floor
-Weaklink on defense that can used as a bait by putting him on Barnes

The series will probably be determined on who wins the LMA/Draymond matchup & they both just got paid big bucks for their services so one of them is going to be the scapegoat. Last time LMA went up against an undersized PF he clubbed him like a baby seal.
