Manu coming back this season would be pretty cool. Of course if he's 100% only. It's be sad and pathetic if he were to come back less than 100%.

But if he did. Can u imagine ATT center in his comeback game??? It would be amazing

One thing I've noticed (or not noticed...) about this incident.

Usually when a player seriously injures another, there is some sort of public statement from the perpetrator.

From Ryan Anderson...crickets.

From what he shares the surgery was delicate and he was in bed and in a lot of pain for the first 3 days and unable to be self sufficient fully ambulatory and doing things like driving until after a week. Recovery is already 4 weeks he said, but after that no specific timeline bc the surgery and injury is rare. He's aware that he will need to get reconditioned physically and all that.

Get well soon Manu!

If Manu of all players complains of pain, you know that it was an extremely delicate injury..it could be a whole month before he could mount on a stationary bike..good thing this shit happened two months before playoffs and not in last week or penultimate game of season like when almost all of his freaky injuries happen..

8. The San Antonio art of the re-post
http://media.video-cdn.espn.com/gifs/mp4/3_12_3_03__2Q__Spurs_Nets__1_11_Spurs_re_post_2GIF .mp4

When a post-up threat kicks the ball out of a double-team, the guy who catches that pass too often moves the ball along with a rote swing pass instead of revisiting the original idea. Not the Spurs. Nobody re-posts the ball with the precision and artistry of San Antonio:
Oh, Manu. You sly dog. Ginobili sees his guy trap LaMarcus Aldridge, and understands that most coaches order that double-teamer to rotate across the court to a shooter in the weakside corner -- triggering a series of rotations around the perimeter. That scheme is based on the notion that the offensive team will ping the ball around the outside.
Ginobili knows the Nets are expecting that, fools them all with a pass fake, and slings the ball back into Aldridge for an easy bucket.
Get better, Manu. The league isn't the same without you.

Let's begin the countdown..Manu had the surgery on February 4th..

Wed. 24 at Sacramento
Thu. 25 at Utah
Sat. 27 at Houston

March

Wed. 2 vs. Detroit
Thu. 3 at New Orleans (4 weeks)
Sat. 5 vs. Sacramento
Mon. 7 at Indiana
Tue. 8 at Minnesota
Thu. 10 vs. Chicago
Sat. 12 vs. Oklahoma City
Tue. 15 vs. LA Clippers
Thu. 17 vs. Portland (6 weeks)
Sat. 19 vs. Golden State
Mon. 21 at Charlotte
Wed. 23 vs. Miami
Fri. 25 vs. Memphis
Sat. 26 at Oklahoma City
Mon. 28 at Memphis
Wed. 30 vs. New Orleans (8 weeks)

The optimistic estimate of Manu recovery would have him return for the Kings (unlikely)..if we go by conservative diagnosis announced by Spurs medical team, he would be available for the Warriors home game..Knowing Pop, that WON'T HAPPEN..If everything goes accordingly, Manu probably make his comeback in one of the following 3 game homestand preceding the trip to OKC..

Anyway, the Spurs are lucky this shit happened early that even if Manu takes two whole months of recovery time, he would still have a couple of weeks (around 8 games in April) to work his way up in shape again..let's hope he suffers no setback..

Cloud786
02-23-2016, 07:26 PM
Hopefully back on March 10th against Chicago. That homestand is BRUTAL! We'll definitely need him there. That'll give him a good 5 weeks since surgery.

It highly doubt it..It is bitch injury that is going to destroy his overall physical preparedness ..I heard Woj saying team sources that Manu wouldn't be able to mount on a stationary bike for probably a month at least..

EVAY
02-23-2016, 09:21 PM
Spunds to me as though the team has been hinting that 8 weeks are more likely than 4. Given his age and the extreme caution that the Spurs' team docs normally employ, I think we had better assume it will be closer to the April games before we see him in uniform again. I hope he can come back by April, but we all know that Manu takes a fair amount of time to get his rhythm back.

We will be lucky if he is back full strength by the playoffs, imo.

This team is going nowhere without him playing at a relatively high level. "He's Manu Ginobili." Of course it's going to be a big deal. You are right- we really need him. I too can only hope he can get back to speed once he is physically able. I'm thinking more like 8 weeks considering the severity and type of injury. The idea of him getting thrown back into the fire anything less than gradually doesn't make sense. Maybe we are about to witness another Spurs miracle- it's happened before! :angel

Actually it isn't that worrisome when you consider that Manu's playing limited minutes (19mpg) compared to previous seasons. That tells how hard it is to beat HoF talent. Even at 38 y/o.

This could be a blessing in disguise. All this rest may allow him to go harder when the playoffs are here. Well this is what everyone, including him I'm sure, are hoping. If he comes back in late March he would have a few weeks to get back into form and be a rested and mentally determined for the playoffs. I'm really hoping he and Tim come back for one more year, but either way- this is it or close to it! :ihit

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said Manu Ginobili is recovering slowly from testicular surgery. Popovich said that really all Ginobili can do basically is shoot baskets carefully. Popovich joked Ginobili is shooting gingerly hoping the ball doesn't bounce back.

He still has a way to go, and he’s wearing some protection he didn’t wear before. But the Spurs are now optimistic. If Ginobili continues to progress as expected, they think he could be back for a few minutes as early as March 10 against Chicago."

Will he make it in time for the Dubs game?

Let's begin the countdown..Manu had the surgery on February 4th..

Wed. 24 at Sacramento
Thu. 25 at Utah
Sat. 27 at Houston

March

Wed. 2 vs. Detroit
Thu. 3 at New Orleans (4 weeks)
Sat. 5 vs. Sacramento
Mon. 7 at Indiana
Tue. 8 at Minnesota
Thu. 10 vs. Chicago
Sat. 12 vs. Oklahoma City
Tue. 15 vs. LA Clippers
Thu. 17 vs. Portland (6 weeks)
Sat. 19 vs. Golden State
Mon. 21 at Charlotte
Wed. 23 vs. Miami
Fri. 25 vs. Memphis
Sat. 26 at Oklahoma City
Mon. 28 at Memphis
Wed. 30 vs. New Orleans (8 weeks)

With the latest from Buck Harvey, who is probably the most plugged Expressnews jounalist, he should easily make it for that 5-game homestand..My guess, the Clippers game will be his first..

Bonner is a great lock room guy and has improved defensively. He's worked a lot on his game since he first came aboard. It also doesn't mean he'll be with the Spurs, but if so it's not a bad quality the Spurs are loyal to their guys. They wouldn't keep him and/or play him meaningful minutes anyway imo.

Look at BklynSpursfan's sig in this thread. That's what I'm talking about. Kyle passing up open shots. The look Patty gave him was as great as it gets but he passes it instantly to West who then has to pump fake his defender off him. I have signatures ignored and if I was so inclined could find similar plays from others including worse plays of guys passing up shots to dribble into contested one's or a TO. Use your imagination to figure out which ones.

On the other hand, many plays a can be found of Kyle making the right plays. If Pop didn't like what he was doing, he would not be playing simple as that, nor would his contract have been picked up for a third season.

By the way, Kyle was an unselfish pass first PG, West had asked for the ball, he directed it to him, a hockey pass was made to him to reverse the ball. It happens often in the Spurs.

Been saying almost the exact same thing myself... even b4 Manu seemed this ready to roll.

I doubt K.Mart is a factor waived or not. Maybe the Spurs already having backed out of their interest is a factor in K.Mart hardening his stance on salary. Speculation, but really with Manu rounding into form, we are ready to roll.

Spurs learned a lot with Manu and Duncan out. That they need a bonafide ball handler other than Manu at this point. I think KA will eventually be that guy, but he isn't quite there yet. That Butler and KA can both play PF effectively, both got quite some time over the past month in those roles.
