View Full Version : Why is the AT&T a ghost town this year?

Looking at almost an entire row of empty seats, 5 rows behind the bench... Season ticket holders too lazy to resell their tickets?

Just bad competition?

Kinda disappointing tbh as this is such a stacked team, I'd kill to go to these games

Strange that Spurs stopped taking in new season ticket holders this year. They claimed record high of season tickets sold this year but all the games have had plenty of empty seats, including opening night vs Nets.

Went to the game against the Hornets, it was pretty full all the way to the top for a Saturday night game. Arena is very nice, but the beer lines can get pretty outrageous around halftime.

As long as they're paid for and sustain the franchise, I have trouble caring what seats remain vacant. I don't cheer any louder at home when I can see rows and rows of patricians with their heads buried in their phones.

Watch okc, Cleveland, Memphis, gsw games and tell me they don't make the Spurs home game look shit I have (and do) and don't much care. The Kings and Suns have great fans, too.... fan reaction seems to clearly mean zilch based on that. Add Knicks, Memphis, Cleveland, Dallas, Houston, Denver, Oklahoma, etc. fans. GSW get a pass for having won last year, but it's not like they had a stronger fanbase than the Spurs until they were in contention.

The corporatocracy showing its colors. And they said capitalism was great

Basketball is an elitist sport, played by millionaires who work for billionaires. The arenas should all be nationalized and given to The People for indoor soccer. And all the best soccer players in the world would flock here to play for peanuts in a show of solidarity. (Because that's what great soccer players do.) Fuck the corporatocracy that pays for this elitist shit.

The seats at the lower level are noticeably empty at the beginning of the 3rd quarter because of the new Restaurant/bar open to lower level ticket holders only. I had lower level seats opening night, with my ticket I was able to partake in the buffet and get a discount on drinks at the bar. It's more exclusive so not as crowded, at half time there were a lot of people who stayed around to mingle watching the game on the many tv's. I suspect next season the hours will be altered because many people are choosing to stay there instead of going back to their seats.

When I lived in SA I used to go to Hemisfair for the Spurs all the time and after the game we would walk across the street to the riverwalk and have a few at Gambits or wherever to celebrate victories. It was bad enough when they made the Spurs play in the giant barn. Later on Im sure they had intentions of improving the neighborhood but they built the new Spurs place in from what I remember was the absolute shitholiest part of SA. Maybe in a few years they will rebuild downtown where it ought to be.

Spurs games during the week are usually less attended obviously.
Weekend games are always packed and get decently loud.
The playoff games are absolutely packed and get very loud, really great atmosphere.

I think regular season games aren't quite as attended because fans are so used to the Spurs making they playoffs that they think "ehh its just regular season".
As far as other arenas being much more packed, louder, etc, that is bullshit with maybe the exception of OKC and GSW.
I can tell most of you haven't been to a game there, I have been to probably 10-15 nba arenas and can tell you AT&T center is one of the loudest and best environments to watch a game.

Yea, I've lived in the city for a few years now. Actually moved here before the 2014 season, so was pretty freaking awesome that they won it all during my first year in the city. Went to about 7 playoff games that year. Went to game 6 against the Clips last year, place was so damn loud then. Game 7 in 2014 was awesome to because of the pissed off mavs fans in the building.
