View Full Version : Mavs: The Warriors are 14–0, just like the Mavs in 2003

And the Spurs are struggling early w/new parts, ala 2003.

Maybe the Warriors will collapse... I hope. The Nuggets in Denver has a good chance to be the first loss.

Can't compare the two. The mavs had a reputation of being soft back then so nobody took them seriously even when they were on that run. The warriors are the defending champs so its even more legit.

Who care how they start, it how they finish. The 2000-01 Lakers (who also had doubters b/c of the Blazers choke job & Tim's injury) weren't great in the regular season but they were a buzz-saw in the postseason. The Warriors are taking the opposite route & are in danger of flaming out if they chase the Bulls 72 win record.

It works both ways. The '01-'02 Lakers started 16-1 and ended up winning the title. Warriors won close to 72 wins last year and didn't flame out so it's wishful thinking to think it will happen this year.

Of course it's wishful thinking but the 2001-02 Lakers started out hot but didn't go pedal to the metal the rest of the way b/c they already validated themselves in 2001. Last years Warriors trucked the league in the regular season but didn't look too hot in the postseason, by May they will be feeling the wear & tear (Klay is already experiencing back issues) of having played the most games of any western conference team in the past 2 season.

I kind of see it like the 2005-06 Spurs who won 63 but ended up getting knocked out by the Mavs who had their number. I see the Spurs playing the nemesis role to the Warriors 2-peat chances.

Both. That was all about matchups. Warriors were no match for the Jazz, but the Mavs would have pulverized the Jazz. Thankfully they couldn't handle the Warriors' incredible pace

I hate these connections to the past because then you set yourself up for disappointment
