Shake your head all you want but, Parker was running the show two days ago, not Mr. +/- -19. His entire game is dependent on a 38 year old and while I'm posting on my phone and can't think of a synonym worst than atrocious, whatever that word is describes his defense in a nutshell. His overall game better improve drastically by seasons end.

Looks he was great off the bench with Manu missing the game, and he was making a ton of shots... his defense will never get better, but when he's hot, he's useful...

Mills is fine. He's never been a good PG. He's an explosive scorer in the mold of Gary Neal but he's also a bit reckless out there and his defense is nagging but not stout. For the energy he brings off the bench, he's a great piece to have.

I'm pretty sure the only reason pop is playing him with Parker is so he can reserve the right to find a new backup point, whether it's mccallum or anderson

I'd like McCallum to get more burn, tbh... especially on nights where Patty is really off... but Pop will probably use this season to allow him to get over himself...

Troll thread, but I'll oblige.

Kyle got a lot of minutes as a stretch 4, bc the Grizz were missing Z-bo and played Barnes as a 4 a whole lot. Kyle did very well in that role. We were also missing Lamarcus, and were understaffed ourselves, so it worked out for Kyle.

He played well and helped us get a win. What that turns into, only Pop knows. Kyle is looking good though, and is likely to stay in the rotation in some form to keep his rhythm and chemistry.

mookie2001
11-22-2015, 02:04 AM
So because of Lamarcus and Z Bo, patty went 1-4 and sat the entire 4th quarter

The same thing could have been said about Belinelli. A backup PG that can't exactly play the point is a problem if Manu or Parker need rest or either is out for an extended period of time. There's more to playing the point than creating offense for yourself.

He got roasted by Ish Smith but that's the only problem I've had with him thus far this season. Everyone's settling into a new role and finding out where they're going to get their shots, I think we should expect rough games from guys like Patty & Danny early in the season.

Patty is just fine for those of us who like him for what he is...an undersized shooting guard. Tons of energy and chaos and fits perfectly with Manu as a backcourt tandem. Is not a point guard, cannot create for others, and needs Manu or Tony or someone to set him up. But has a super-quick release and will keep defenses honest as a potential three point dagger.

When Green is struggling offensively we need a quick release three point specialist to help the spacing for the first squad.

Patty playing with Tony is mostly Pop playing with line-ups - especially recently with Manu out a couple of games and Danny struggling.

It's November:lol

Do you guys remember what the Spurs' players looked like last November? It's largely meaningless, a lot of reliable, higher profile players than Mills are struggling, right now, it's really early..

Patty is what he is: a streaky volume shooter. He's not a traditional point guard, he's undersized on defense, but he makes up for that with his energy, tenacity, and ability to shoot from anywhere.

When he is hot, the Spurs are damn near impossible to beat. When he is not, he'll be putting up these 2-8 efforts that make him look like a liability on offense. Consistency is his problem, as it usually is with all distance gunners.

He's still shooting 42% and is essentially the Spurs second-best shooter (Tony's 50% on 4 shots notwithstanding). I think it's a little early to be throwing him under the bus. :rolleyes

Pretty much the same stats as in 2014 WCF vs OKC
3.5 ppg and .308 from 3.

I think OKC is a bad match up for him

Consistency is what separates a lot of bench players from starting lineups.

Before the injury, Patty was one of those guys who could come into a game and score a flurry of points. Obviously not every time - but often enough. I don't have any hard stats, but it doesn't seem like he's that guy anymore. I don't know if he can't, or if Pop has convinced him to play a different way. But it's nice to have a guy who can pop into a game and change the momentum in a 5 minute stretch.

Other than that, he's doing just about what a guy in his role and salary level should be doing. I think a lot of people expect an All-Star team that fits under the salary cap.

I think he still got it, results is different due to the style of play. Spurs play more isolation now compare to past years, less open shots for him and other shooters. The only time they will get open is when opponents starts to double team. Against OKC, the only time he will see floor is when Westbrook goes to the bench.
