Ex. A, shows the average amount of minutes it takes for each shot less than 5 feet from the rim.

The biggest thing that stands out from last year to this year is how the offense isn't producing the shots around the basket for Tim. Both last year and this year the number of shots made has come assisted 79% of the time. Also he shooting the exact same percentage in this area as last year. Overall one should be hopeful for significant improvement in this area which will be a significant boost for the offense. Ex. B, shows Tim's overall loss in points per game from the decrease in attempts less than 5 feet. It makes up the vast majority of the decrease in his ppg average.

Ex. A, also displays how great Tiago was at getting these easy shots and the downfall we took in losing him and acquiring LMA. LMA needs to increase the amount of shots near the rim going forward. The team already has to work to overcome the loss from aging players so closing the gap between LMa and Tiago is important to the efficiency of the offense.

The plus side would be Kawhi's growth in this area for the team. However, I think the offense needs him to improve even more in an effort to make up some of what Tony has lost over the years.

Nice post.

Tiago and Aldridge have very different shot selections near the rim, though. Tiago got his close shots from rolling in the PnR while Aldridge is getting a lot of putbacks.

Kawhi's percentage is crazy high but he managed to sustain it last season.

Tim is taking over three shots fewer per game total this year over last. That could account for much of this.

They won't be ramping up Tim's shots until the playoffs, if then. Lobbying for that would be like lobbying for more Admiral shots in 2002-2003. Tim is stepping back, just as David did.

I had other reasoning for the addition on Jack.
