I believe UK is sending a mighty force of 12 airplanes to Syria. Political posturing at its finest.

They sent a bomber squadron. France and other parties are acting with similar proportions. It's how NATO works. That force can run continuously for an open ended period of time along with French, US and Turkish squadrons.
I just don't think you have any clue about modern warfare. Not that I am an expert but your sentiment is just ignorant.

there are already about 200+ planes doing missions over Syria. if you think one more dozen will make a difference then go ahead and keep telling yourself that. :rolleyes

5% is 5% and if you are counting the Iranians Russians and Syrians we are not working in tandem with them. If you think about all the Arab states and the Iranians too you get a sense of proportion. A squadron is obvious frankly.
And politically it is significant. England has been our closest ally for over a century. They are now the 4th NATO council state to go along with France, Turkey, and ourselves. If your not American then fine fuck you too but for US national security this is bread and butter stuff. This is how we need to defend ourselves and not spy and fuck over our own citizens and allies.

So ISIS doesn't exist? I'm with you say that we are cooking the casualty estimates somehow but either ISIS is a threat or it isn't. If they are and they have strategic and tactical assets to be bombed then it is what it is.
Are you a pacifist?

And by all accounts this is a war of ideology in western versus eastern culture and given that reality political posturing is just as important as the military.

They're not the only threat in that region if you think Iran/Hezbollah are legitimate threats. Israel probably believes Iran and Hezbollah are bigger threats.

Wake up. This is not a war of ideology.
The West's priority is the fall of Assad. I agree with the opinion that this bombing campaign is just a political move. Most experts agree bombing will nit destroy ISIS. There must be ground forces. But using Al Qaeda is a terrible mistake. That leaves the fragmented weak "moderate rebels".
What needs to be done is. Seal Turkish border. Cut ISIS supply lines. Work with Rebels and Assad together to get a cease for and have these guys go destroy ISIS.
Bombing from above alone is dumb

You sound like one of the minutemen thinking the US southern border can reliably be sealed. I like your tactical ideas for the most part but I don't think that'll work.
I disagree. It is that we are losing the ideology war that jihadists from Morocco to Pakistan and the world over still bolster ISIS rank. It's what engenders fucks like in Ft Hood to do their shenanigans. Standing besides Israel while they do stupid provocative shit and call the Wahhabists theocracies our allies is a problem.

So you are saying the border can't be sealed to convoys of oil tankers and arm shipments?? :rolleyes
Of course it could. If turkey wanted to.
We are not talking about Mexicans crossing the border with their backpacks. We are talking about entire fleet of trucks going back and forth like its grand central station

It's a thousand miles or more of not overly rugged desert all up on the plateau. How can you or anyone say one way or another reliably what Turkey can or cannot do?
If all you are going to do is parrot the Russian state media's position like you are wont to do then there isn't much to argue.

Last time I checked oil tankers and big trucks cants make it through sand dunes and mountains tbh
Not a matter of parroting anything. Even Western experts and politicians agree. Stop the shipments of weapons and oil and you might have a start.
Oh and stop medical help to ISIS. IMO
Common sense shit. Not rocket science

I've read extensively on this and the border area by NYT and other journalists actually in that region. There is legitimate trade that goes through. No one controls that area. The Turks have a few checkpoints but not all of them all the time. Interspersed are Kurds primarily to the East and a hodgepodge of groups all the way to the coast. What I have read doesn't indicate jihadists queueing through one way and trucks and tankers the other. Quite the opposite as they have been clamping down since the Turks stopped giving a fuck about the hostages.
Do you have anything not from a black helicopter site to corroborate your claim at least?

I'd advise you to read up more on the subject and look at the satellite images all over the web of the hundreds of oil tankers going back and forth daily.
Also keep in mind the NTY and WSJ are mainly mouthpieces of the CIA
I'd advice you to diversify your reading. For example:
The guardian
Consortiumnews - written by the guy who uncovered the Iran-Contra scandal

I just asked for a link and I still haven't gotten one. And yeah I know that the guy at FP has connections to NSA types. The way I figure they run much of this country as it is and the US has its systems of verification at the AP and the like. Guardian is a british newspaper and one of murdoch's original gems, I would love a link to them.
Consortium News is an independent and reads like russian narrative trash. The Poles and Baltic states have been begging for a joint defense force to be coordinated for years and they have been having a shit fit since the Russians occupied Crimea and reinforced Ukrainian separatists. We have been having those maneuvers practiced and established over the past months and of course the Russians are having a shit fit. I pay attention to what Russian news says too but I know about the 3 channel monopoly and Putin's seizing of all broadcast media near a decade ago. It makes for an excellent bullshit detector for me.
Any time we do anything along those lines it's always the same story. And there is probably more than a little truth to it but that is okay. Germany along with the Poles and Latvians and whoever the hell else is in on this too so I imagine the force deployed there with the Turks shooting down planes and talking shit on their southern flank has them very concerned. If the Russians do make another land grab in the West there it is world war.
Unless the Chinese threw in with Moscow, they would be in a very poor position militarily now that the Ukraine has flipped. We could starve them out in a couple years if we cut off the south.

Robert Parry (born June 24, 1949) is an American investigative journalist best known for his role in covering the Iran-Contra affair for the Associated Press (AP) and Newsweek, including breaking the Psychological Operations in Guerrilla Warfare (CIA manual provided to the Nicaraguan contras) and the CIA and Contras cocaine trafficking in the US scandal in 1985. He was awarded the George Polk Award for National Reporting in 1984. He has been the editor of Consortium News since 1995.
