Wow what a nailbiter scary ass game. We turned the ball over way too much. Had that not been the case Isaiah flops and crazy heroics aside we would still have won.
Kawhi had a really bad game too and we stopped going to Aldridge when he was balling.
Also when Kyle was in the game we settled down a little, once he was out, all he'll broke loose again with the TO.
Still a win is a win.

If team's refuse to trap Curry in the 4th quarter then they are going to lose the game. The Nets were the only ones that trapped & should have won the game if it wasn't for a dumb turnover by Jarret Jack along w/ Lopez missing a point blank shot. Not to mention Iggy making a double clutch 3 pointer to send it to OT.

Agreed I am not sure if he just pissed up Pop to end the 3rd. He really started to get passive and passing the ball into traffic. I through at different points Manu and Kawhi were also tired and started making bad decisions.
A lot to learn from this. We had been defending their 3 well until this game. Still a game we won when we only 5 threes I'll take it!
Also, Danny and Kawhi making clutch FT. Good and thrilling game. Can't blame POP fir this one. Players themselves git sloppy at times.
He still doesn't trust Kyle. I think he only played bc of the foul trouble situation, but he played well. That will help his confidence. When even LMA and Boris were nit playing down the stretch you know Pop was sticking to his trusted guys.
Good quality clutch win requiring good performance down the stretch and enough too scare the bejeezus out of them.

Kawhi was whacky in the 4th. The team needs to do a better job of getting him in rhytem if they want to use him as an offensive optio when the game slows down. 4 shots in the first half aint going to cut it.

You really want to analyze this game, it all comes down to: Kawhi had an off night and didn't dominate the way he has been doing. The rest of the guys were a little sluggish at times, but pretty much did what they do.
The whistles seemed like a problem, but both teams wound up committing 22 PF and taking 22 FT's.
Manu had 15 points, 7 boards, 4 AST, and only 1 TO. I'll take that from him every night.
Isaiah Thomas averages 21 points and 6.4 AST. Tonight he had 23 and 8. Not an outrageous night for him.
Bradley made 1 more 3-pointer than he normally makes in a game.
The Spurs out-rebounded them massively 48-39, and outscored them in the paint 44-30.
The only other thing that stands out is that the Celtics are young and quick, and got out running. The Spurs didn't get back on transition D, and the Celtics had 28 fast break points compared to just 3 for the Spurs. But if Kawhi has his normal game, a lot of those opportunities wouldn't have been there.

As kawhistom pointed out he was abysmal defensively and his Offense was counterproductive. I love manu, but i call it as it is. Tonight he played like a tony parker that would.gets the stats but otherwise is a net negative.

Kind of agree with your analysis. Kawhi really did struggle since early in the game and couldn't get going for a good stretch. Also made bad decisions at times. An opportunity to learn from it for him. There was more beside him. Many of our TO were not forced, but guys were just careless. Defensively a lot to learn from it also but Thomas was just killing us

Kl played like something was bothering him, just off with a lot of things, even sporstmanship, I saw him go off by himself a few times, after a poor play, while teammates huddled together, didn't extend a courteous hand when he sort of pushed a Celtics player to the floor.
One sequence he mucked up like 3 trips down, and passed to Kyle Anderson with like 2 seconds on the clock, which SloMo buried.
Even at the finishing, after KL got the rebound, Isiah almost stole it from him under the basket, with the way things were going, Isiah prolly wo8ld have made it. That guy was on turbo.
Fortunately Spurs made just enough plays to eke out Win. Kl hit his free throws too.

Manu has been dissapointing the last 3 games tbh. He scored 15 tonight but he killed the flow of the offense and got boston back. He was atrocious defensively.
Lets hope things change. I dont ever want to see the 201e manu that tried too hard to play a game his age does not allow anymore
Stats.
As kawhistom pointed out he was abysmal defensively and his Offense was counterproductive. I love manu, but i call it as it is. Tonight he played like a tony parker that would.gets the stats but otherwise is a net negative.
He tries to do too much when the team relies on him too much, and he still comes through. Also Manu's "net negative" included Spur's highest + rating.

played 25 minutes during which the team outscored the celtics by 13, bailed out a few posesions in the clutch and recognized the need to go hard to the rim, something the spurs have yet to understand.
was one of the 3 best spur players.

Isaiah Thomas was 7 of 17. A bot short of 'turbo', imo.

If they would have chosen it because of stats LMA would have got it. You are talking about Manu being a net negative but he was a team leading +12 tonight.

All about flow...he was responsible for the celtics coming back into the game. He made one huge three so it evens out but otherwise he was poor and tried to do too much.

How could he be responsible for the Celtics getting back into the game when he had the best +/- of the team? Yeah, manu had a couple of bad decisions on the game and the Man of the match label might be a little too much (although I can't think of another guy that should have deserved it more with the exception of maybe Boris) but he was far from being a net negative, tbh. You should re-watch the game, imho.

+- is shitty. Stop using that bs.
A players performance is all about how he affects the flow of the game. Manu was poor in the first half and he tried to do too much in the second half specifically during the time when Boston was making a run.
Its all good he had one bad game..the issue is when he tries to play like this. Game 6 of the finals is exactly what i was remebring.
Hopefully he doesnt try to play like hes 25 again since its bad for his long term health and the team in game. Hes a competitors so i understand he will have games where overdribbles...just calling it the way it is.
Boris was for sure the best player in the game.

I have no problem admitting when Manu plays bad and I agree with you that him trying to do too much is not good for the Spurs. I just didn't see what you saw tonight son.

BTW, when you are talking about teams runs on a particular game +/- is very useful, tbh.

Let me put it this way, the flow of the game was affected during the time pop went super small with our 2 pg. Ginobili was not in the game by then.
I just dont know what you saw in this game, but for in game analysis + - is a usefull stat. And that stat in particular shows you that during the Celtics runs Manu was on the bench.

Yeah Apa re-watch it, he wasn't in the game during the Celtics run
It wasn't a great performance from him but he put up the stats and came through in the clutch, was +13 and in the first half it was mainly hik feeding Boris and LMA in the post
As opposed to the last few games where he had been pretty good defensively he was quite bad today, I agree with that, but he played well overall

The Celtics are good and up and coming team, good win tonight.
agree, Bradley is so underrated (defense elite and 44% 3pt), Smart (when healthy), Bradley and Crowder is a nightmare for any guard

Kyle was quite good. I was surprised that he only logged 8 minutes. Seemed like more.
38 mins actually, 41points, 7 assists, and 4 boards vs the Dubs. /blue #WeDaNorth

For a young team, these Celtics played with a lot of heart.

Agree completely. The Celts are not usually that good at shooting threes. Our biggest point differentials in our wins have occurred when our three pointers were plentiful.
You are right that Boston's three point shooting was both unusual and why the game was so close.

I think Spurs played well in offense. However defensively they couldn't stop the Celtics.
My summary, it could have been a blowout, but the Celtics refused to give up.

They're not that talented, but they play hard and bring it every night...and they're REALLY well coached
Brad Stevens is a great coach. Celtics better not screw that one up.

Yep, he's already a top 3-5 coach for sure. He's locked up in Boston so it won't happen, but man I'd be thrilled if we got him as Pop's replacement in a few years.
