haha I love how John Wall was backing down Tony, Tony fell to the ground and all of a sudden Leonard appeared in front of Wall. John Wall had a look on his face like 'oh shit' and quickly passed the ball out lol. Leonard putting the fear in the eyes of the opponent on both ends

24 points on 12 shots - Leonard
10 points on 12 shots - Parker
Crazy efficient game for Kawhi
I think Tony has generally payed good D this game. He has done a terrible job of getting LMA involved, and he has been guilty of dribble, dribble, dribble several times. Overall not a bad game, though.
I agree with this in general. I thought for a bit in the second quarter Parker started trying to instill some juice into the offense and thus got really aggressive with his own shot. LMA has to decide to be more aggressive as well.. Leonard occasionally just decides to get aggressive and it always pays off for us.
LMA actually just shot kind of poorly in the first half.

The main issue has been the Spurs haven't been able to take the Zards out of their offensive comfort zone. Need to foil some of those screen plays and disallow the 10 foot jumpers that they aren't missing tonight. Make them play isoball and wind the shot clock.

Truth bomb. still, 81 + 95 / 2 = 88 which is the same as after the Atlanta game
The fuck is wrong with Spurs fans this year? I have never seen so many empty seats before. I know it's garbage time now but I'm talking about the entire season.
I've noticed that too. Terrible optics.
When we had season tickets I used to notice that lots of the boxes were empty most games. Those are almost all corporate. It used to make me mad to see them unused, and I always wished that the organization would allow regular fans to sit in them if they were still empty by half time.
They did raise prices (always do), but the lower bowl is all sold out for the season, so it is just people not showing up

Like I said before, I believe it was a test game for Anderson. He already knows what Simms can do, but if he has to use Kyle in a situation like against this team can he?
You don't know unless you give him a chance.
People keep thinking its Kyle v. Simms and its not. Both guys are ours to keep and have to get both to be better.... to me it was a test for Kyle.
I see your perspective, but I can't think any of us, including Pop "knows what Simmons can do." Kyle and Simmons are, indeed, different tools for different situations. I thought this game was the situation that called for Simmons. But testing Kyle is okay, and he had some good moments (and one notably bad one).

This was a high paced game so the pts per 100 shouldn't be that bad thus the D-Rtg shouldn't think much of a hit.
The opponent 3 point percentage & FG% actually should drop after this game.

yeah, Spurs did a poor job at taking away the Zards' 1st option shots, especially in the 1st half
The key to getting consistent stops is you have to take the other team out of their comfort zone. Take away their A and B options and make them scramble and eat time off the clock.

I thought this game was the situation that called for Simmons. But testing Kyle is okay, and he had some good moments (and one notably bad one).
I personally saw several transition opportunities, that I know for sure if Simms had played, he would have had at least a couple of easy transition buckets, highlight reel material.
While fans are concerned this was not the game for Kyle bc of the fast breaks, I thought it was exactly the kind of game that you want to throw him into, if you want to see whether he can play or not. If he had failed this, maybe it was dleague assignment for him after this game again. We don't know Pop's mind, but he's always had the end game in mind, and for Kyle I think its development.
I was as surprised as everyone to see Pop go to Kyle, and moreover to see him not benched for mistakes of over-aggression. Pop gave a lot of license to Simmons earlier and let him play through mistakes some. Not Kyle, so for all we know, he was just giving the same chance he gave Simmons to play through mistakes and pitted him against a tough athletic team.
He held his own well enough. There were several mistakes, but he was a net positive. So was Simmons when he played. He wasn't a perfect guy, but he was a net positive overall.
That is all that matters.
For all we know, we are going to be seeing Pop go back and forth between them at least during this part of the season because they are both being developed.
Before anyone jumps on me, I do believe Simmons is a better fit for the bench as it is right now. His athleticism and easy baskets in transition make him a better fit. But the other guy should be developed as well, or sent to the dleague to play. If he can hold his own in the NBA then you have to wonder whether dleague will help him get better at all then.
The other untalked about aspect, maybe a trade is being talked about.

There were plenty of no shows tonight, but not nearly as many as it appears on TV. They did a great job with the renovation in creating places to be comfortable, and get separated from your money, other than your seat. The concourses, bars, and concession areas are full of people throughout the game. Why people pay good money to go to a basketball game and not watch the game is beyond me, but it's true. It's always been true, but there's more of it this season than I've seen in the last 12 years, and I've attended about 95% of all home games in that time.

As for the how many championships argument, they've only had 1 other legit shot besides the year they ran into a buzzsaw in Miami (Lebron was determined not to lose that year yet again). That was in 2014, and they would have won it had they gotten past the Spurs. Ibaka being absent the first two games really hurt them, and even then the Spurs were very fortunate the series didn't go to 7.

That's an interesting observation, from someone who was actually there. Since moving down to the water, I'm not getting to as many games and haven't been this season yet. Lots of people wondering why "all the empty seats". So at least part of it is from people just being out of their seats during the game? I'm with you - I can understand someone having to go to the bathroom, but it always amazes me when they're just shopping. Just like the people who always leave early in the fourth quarter, to beat the traffic.

Before this season started - even after it started - most people expected that it would take a while for the Spurs to incorporate Aldridge into the starting lineup, and to integrate some of the other new guys into the blitzkrieg second unit. I could go back and pull threads, but the general thought was that the Spurs would struggle somewhat early. I don't think anyone thought that would mean a 22-5 start and a 14-0 home record. The fact is, 90% of the people here would be ecstatic with this start if the Spurs had the best record. They've let the Warrior's start make them all crazy-like.
If we get to start playing what-ifs with the playoffs, there are a few seasons I'd like to re-write. Heh... I remember one playoffs when the Laker fans convinced themselves that the reason the Spurs were able to knock them out was that Rick Fox was injured. :lol You play the cards you're dealt, and OKC hasn't gotten it done. Maybe they wear out their super-stars because they can't afford to pay enough other quality players.

Honestly, the current records of both Spurs and GSW are over-rated. Both teams had relatively easy schedules. Look at Spurs, they are 0-3 against top teams: OKC, Bulls, Raptors. Who have they beaten that's playoff bound? Mavs and Mephis? That's it, everyone else are lottery teams. Yeah... Hawks are playing very badly lately.

Records for both spurs and gsw are anything but overrated. Both are clearly 2 of the top teams in the league and legit contenders regardless of schedule.
The losses to bulls, okc, raptors were even very close and winnable games. Okc is still a threat and we should not look past them, but I expect by March the spurs (barring any injuires) to be playing even better.

Three of the Spurs' losses were the second night of B2B's, on the road. OKC loss was the first game of the season. They all count, but those are the games that teams lose. I don't think they discount all the other wins.
I keep hearing about the Spurs and Warriors weak schedule. Just out of curiosity, which teams do you think have had tough schedules? Here's a hint - look for teams that have had to play the Spurs and the Warriors.

True, just like winning the NFC East with a 7–9 record or a 12–4 record doesn't matter, you still won the NFC East. I'm less interested in the 22–5 record as I am that we're the lowly second seed. Worried the Warriors are even going to lose five games. Technically, Spurs still control own destiny since we play them 4 times and we're 4 games behind, but I don't see us sweeping them in the RS series though 3 out of 4 is a decent possibility.
