They should be as great as or better than Kobe/Shaq because they don't have the inflated egos. But for some reason they're not as effective.

if Kawhi could have the offensive skills of Kobe but the demeanor of Duncan, that would be the ultimate package.

Lma will never be compared to shaq

But legit comparisons to no ring Stockton and weak ass Malone works

Aldridge isn't anywhere near the low post presence that prime shaq was. He has way more effective range but give shaq the ball inside of 10 feet and the ony defense was to foul.

first of all, kobe has nver shot 50% for any season of his career. 2nd, kobe is the king of bad bad shots. 3rd, leonard will never average 25 ppg or more playign under popoovich. 4th, We don't know what leonard can do offensively playing under popovich.

greatest duo? 2 of their final wins came came agianst the 01 76ers(in which that 4-1 win was actually had some close games) and the 02 nets(in which we beat as well the next season). Kareem and Magic were better. At the time, Kobe wasn't even the best wing in the league. Tmac was having better seasons leading his team in multiple categories, but it makes a big difference when shaq is your center vs the likes of Declerq, and old Ewing, or old Kemp. Big Difference in playoff wins. We know what kobe does in his prime without a big man don't we?

Nah. Prime Shaq is arguably the most dominant player of all-time, and Kobe in '01/02 was amazing as well. And lol @ bringing up the 2001/2002 Finals as some sort of knocks on them. Look at who Shaq/Kobe beat in the 2001/2002 playoffs (you know, there are 3 rounds before the Finals) and you'll see they beat some incredible competition. Meanwhile Magic and Kareem were playing in the West during the 80s when it was a joke conference.

I mean if you want to argue that Magic/Kareem were better because they had success over a longer period of time that's reasonable. But there has never been a duo as good as the peak of Shaq/Kobe.

That's reasonable. The lakers beat ALL former champions or future champions in the 80s. Plus the teams they beat were not as great as the lakers, but "jokes?". Dallas in the 80s with blackmon, perkins, harper, and aguire were jokes? jazz??? portland? So none of those teams would have survived in the 2000s west during the lakers run? And we can argue that the lakers were gifted 3 finals appearances. 2000 portland. Portland up big in the 4th then the refs just swallow their whistles and the Lakers make the miraculous comeback as people rewrite history in forgetting what really happened(same thing happened to Boston in the 2010 finals in the 4th). 2002 vs the kings in game 6(no explanation needed. if I need to explain, you're too young to remember. Google it). And that takes us to the 2004 second round game 5 in which Derek Fisher's bitch ass was allowed to catch a basketball, turn around and fade away in .4 seconds on our home court. It was obvious the winner of that series were gonna kick the shit out of the timberwolves. So yes, Kobe and Shaq has benefitted from shitty officiating in their years. Shit, They damn near let iverson take 3 games against them. They won 4-1, but 2 of those other games could have gone either way. Plus Mutombo's dumb ass requested to play shaq 1 on 1 . hahahaha. Kawhi/LMA aren't really a duo, the current Spurs are a modern version of the '85-'86 Celtics who had the GOAT frontline. The difference is that Bird in '86 was at the peak of his prime while Kawhi is now just entering his prime. They even had the #1 defense, ranked a bottom 25% for pace & also had the 3rd ranked offense along with being dominant at home just like the current Spurs. I guess that would make the Warriors the equivalent of the '86-'87 Lakers except replace Kareem w/ Bogut:lol.

Frontcourt:

Bird/Kawhi
McHale/LMA
Parish/Tim
Walton/Boris+Boban:lol
Wedman/West

Backcourt:

DJ/Danny+Manu
Ainge/Tony
Sichting/Patty

That always drove me nuts whenever the Lakers would lose a playoff game Phil would bitch about the refs and suddenly the Lakers got a bunch of phantom calls the next game. That was one of the biggest reasons I hated Spur-Lakers playoff series because I knew the spurs would have to overcome some bs refereeing. If you take away Phil's ability to influence refs than he becomes a lot less effective. On a sidenote it was also annoying when Laker players would bitch about the refs after losses than scrubs like Fox would criticizing other teams for calling out the refs by saying "They need to shut up and stop whining." I have never seen a team that whined and complained so much about the refs along from benefiting from them like the Shaq-Kobe-Jackson era Lakers.
