Green is the 2nd best defender in the team. Not something fans should dismiss.

His shot isn't falling probably more due to confidence than anything. His defense has been great, and transition defense top in the league. He's expanded his game with mixed results, but gives fantastic hustle and teamwork. He doesn't suck, regardless of what some internet person thinks.

It won't take much for things to change. If Danny had made 14 more 3s over the first 28 games, just one every other game, he'd be shooting at his career average. His numbers have been bad for a third of a season. Hardly enough to make permanent judgements. Oh, he defends.

So you're saying Kawhi's the third best defender? Because Green's certainly not better than Duncan

Yeah chump danny needs to shoot better BUT when he does drive the lane it's a national embarrassment and his blocks and steals are down. The 30% shooting is just largess.

I'd rather Danny be ice cold now and then go into one of the hottest streaks in NBA history for the entire playoffs.

cjw
12-20-2015, 10:53 PM
30% shooting from deep is still better than Hack-a-Deandre's 38% from the line...

Green will regress towards his mean, though should still finish the season below 40%. All that matters is that he's shooting well in April/May/June.

The 2nd best perimeter defender.

Kawhi #2, Tim #3, Danny #9 in Def Rating

Kawhi #2, Tim #4, Danny #13 in Def Win Shares

Tim #1, Kawhi #6 (first no-PF/C ranked), Danny #20 in Defensive Box Plus/Minus

Might also be from the slight change in the offense in the 1st unit. More dump downs to LMA and Kwahi. Kwahi ISO. He's still looking to find his his flow with the 1st unit. I think if he played with the 2nd unit (Diaw, Manu, Patty?) he may shoot better.

It's been pointed out so many times already, everybody knows he's sucking, everybody also knows that without a good danny green the Spurs dont win against gsw. Chump said it best.

He hasn't been consistently good on defense this year.
It's like His focus is off, his attention wonders. Simmons has subbed in fir him and it's not bc of his shooting.
Quite possibly Danny's having an off year.

The issue is not the offense. Maybe at the beginning, but not at this point. He's been guilty of trying to do too much. Hesitating or driving when he could have shot it.

Hopefully the green light he gas gotten to freelance with the ball pays off in making him more versatile. It might eventually be reigned in by Pop some. Simmons always ready to sub in.

I think Danny´s the most Assist dependant Spurs of all, if he doesn´t receive the ball ready to shoot then is a disaster waiting to happen.

He suffered a lot early in the season when Tony looked done, now that Tony is playing more like what is expected from him i expect Danny production to increase as he will have the ball in his hands with advantage to shoot and won´t have to look for akward penetrations.

Off Topic:

If the game was on the line and your two options are.

Danny Green penetration.

Manu Ginobili making a riskfull (50% turnover) pass.

What would you prefer?

While the shots aren’t falling, Green’s focus is on wins and playing defense

I just wish he wasnt such a pussy
Hes scared shitless with the ball unless hes launching a 3
Bringing the ball up court in that Clipper game was the gayest shit I ver seen
A defender 10ft away looked at him, he shit his pants & fuckin rockets the ball into Duncans back
We would all like him to shoot better, Im sure he would too, but hes still a threat at this point
That plus still defending at a high level is sumn I can deal with
Being a chicken shit with the ball is just unacceptable

Because when he can't hit 3's, he's COMPLETELY USELESS on offense. How many time must this be stated...

Being the starting SG & a defensive specialist on the best defensive team in the NBA is still impressive, even though someone like James Harden will always get more accolades for being offensive minded and just as bad on D as Green has been on O this season... Green fits this team, and I'd bet his 3pt% will go up by the all star break.

I'd take Manu... If the pass works its a highlight play and a win. Basically its flip of a coin to possibly win.

Danny ... I don't think he's at a coin flip to win a game with his penetration. lol

I don't know what to say about Green. Has the carriage turned into a pumpkin? Is it all over for him? His shot is disgustingly bad. A shooter should not lose their shot as easily as he appears to have done so.

Well he lost a three on a timeout in the fourth, but that would have still only put him at 2 for 8.

I like him logging some minutes with the bench unit. Can take advantage of their spacing and guard their best bench scorer. If Manu is going to be playing down the stretch anyway, we need Green getting those minutes.

kaji157

Today his shots were ugly, but not because he missed it but because many of them were different forms of shooting, some jumping, some with small jumps. It´s like he is just trying different things and none are working.

Today he missed the most open looks. I think Chip has to have some work with him.

According to many who won't hear of his offensive struggles, he's Bruce Bowen.
