I was a fan back when no one was watching it (loved Craig Kilborn).
It gets less funny every year. I used to like John Stewart, but he has really gotten overrated (as has the show). Where he used to be self-deprecating, he now seems self-righteous and pretty full of himself. His ego has gotten the better of him and spoiled a perfectly good show. He also beats some stuff into the ground...like his Johnny Carson and Bush impressions. His Bush impressions are pretty lame and a waste of airtime IMO. And then you have his audience. SO annoying. They laugh at his every utterance as if it were the single funniest thing they've ever heard in their entire lives. What a bunch of goons.

What cracks me up is that Stewart got on a soapbox about CNN Crossfire (an entertainment program) when his entertainment program is guilty of the same things. A lot of people get most of their news from shows like that these days, including the Daily Show. They aren't obligated to show objectivity, but we're not obligated to like it.
