I'm watching right now, and just heard the funniest Daily Show quote in a loooooooong ass time!!
"Do you think its possible, if environmentalists turn out to be responsible for the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, Sean Hannity's penis will explode?"
Hahahahahahaa, sooo soo soooo soooooooooooooooooooooooo fucking true!!!!!
And that goes for all Conservative Talk Show Hosts.

Daily Show is by far my favorite show on politics. Satire is beautiful.
I think it's hilarious that I have this retarded friend that loves Bill O'Reilly and Republicans and Bush, yet he watches the Daily Show. I think he's too stupid to realize how much the Daily Show bashes Repubs because he doesn't know shit about politics.

One of the guys from Improv Olympic Chicago will be joining the daily show very soon...matter of days if i'm not mistaken...dan castellaneda or something...he's an AWESOME IMPROV actor and will make a fine addition...i might watch more frequently because of it...I'm a big fan of Stewart, but satire aside, he does pull some of his opinions out of his ass...oh well...who doesn't...and since his mom has san antonio ties...i forgive his sorry ass...:lol

I was a fan back when no one was watching it (loved Craig Kilborn).
It gets less funny every year. I used to like John Stewart, but he has really gotten overrated (as has the show). Where he used to be self-deprecating, he now seems self-righteous and pretty full of himself. His ego has gotten the better of him and spoiled a perfectly good show. He also beats some stuff into the ground...like his Johnny Carson and Bush impressions. His Bush impressions are pretty lame and a waste of airtime IMO. And then you have his audience. SO annoying. They laugh at his every utterance as if it were the single funniest thing they've ever heard in their entire lives. What a bunch of goons.

That is somewhat true. The show is really overrated now, some people were telling me the other day how they've been told to get cable just for the Daily Show, and how the Daily Show was the funniest show on television.

dude, i'm an idiot...i knew i had the name wrong, but here is a snippet with the correct name...Dan Bakkedahl...
Carell and Stephen Colbert, who both logged stage time at Second City, helped define "The Daily Show"'s satiric tone. So it should come as no surprise that yet another recent Second City alum, Dan Bakkedahl, has just been added to "The Daily Show" roster as a correspondent. (Before he leaves for the gig in New York, you can catch Bakkedahl for one last performance midnight on Friday at the I.O.)
link (http://www.chicagoist.com/archives/2005/08/29/were_not_making_this_up.php)
but i gotta tell you, i caught the Daily Show, or at least a good portion of it tonight and i remembered why i stopped watching...
poor Stewart has become a liberal lapdog...he used to be a little bit less biased, but he's full blown lib now...or at least he plays one on tv...probobaly his producers choice if not his...he is like a lib version of orielly with jokes thrown...or better yet a lib version of Limbaughs old televison show...
Dennis Miller's show on HBO was much better. :tu

I gotta admit, i did watch it very regularly back when Craig was host. But his act got old...Stewart has a different kinda act. You either love Craig or you hate him. Yet for some reason, even though Stewart could make me laugh harder, I never watched the show regularly ever since he took over.

oh come one. The Democratic Party is target rich for lampooning. Joe Biden alone could provide a whole seasons worth of material. And has there been many (if any) jokes on Governor Blanco or Ray Nagin? You could do a gazillion spoofs on those clowns. The more I think about it the more I agree with Big Zak's point that Stewart is a liberal lapdog. And he accuses others of being "partisan hacks"??!! Talk about pots and kettles. The Daily Show used to be an equal opportunity offender, now it's just a sanctimonious leftwing mouthpiece. I will admit the correspondants still have some funny pieces. But John Stewart sucks.

His first mistake is going on O'Reilly's show. Those cable shows are a waste of time for any serious discourse because they invariably devolve into shouting matches like what happened between those two.
O'Reilly is almost as funny as the Daily Show, thing is, he's not trying to be funny.

"sanctimonious leftwing mouthpiece"
But it's a _comedy_ show on the Comedy Channel, take it as "seriously" as MM.
If a "serious" channel like Fox is blatantly UNbalanced (but "lies about it (R)"),
what's the obligation for a silly comedy show to be balanced?
Spurminator
09-22-2005, 02:36 PM
It's not that there's an obligation, it's just not as funny or universal. What cracks me up is that Stewart got on a soapbox about CNN Crossfire (an entertainment program) when his entertainment program is guilty of the same things. A lot of people get most of their news from shows like that these days, including the Daily Show. They aren't obligated to show objectivity, but we're not obligated to like it.

And if it is, so what? So fucking what? Can you name one other "sanctimonious leftwing mouthpiece" that gets national coverage?
Meanwhile, any dickhead on the street can name you like at least 3 sanctimonious rightwing mouthpieces
The reason theres not 10 fat ass old white dudes doing shows that do nothing but scoff at republicans is because the right is parasitic on the left, not vice versa. The Daily Show does scoff a shitload of republicans, but you act like he did not scoff clinton. You're just pulling the basic 'he is/they are leaders, you can't make fun of them' bull shit
the daily show just makes fun of any 'leader' that's been in the news
When democrats are under the gun in 'normal' news, then the daily show takes jabs at them too.

You're right, it was the democratic process. The Democrats have been involved in more than their fair share of shenanigans over the years...the last time one was in office, as a matter of fact. Corruptness and dishonesty did not originate with W's swearing in, and most certainly is not exclusive to the Republican party.
And what's the problem with voicing opinions about the Daily Show? I don't really have one because I don't think I've ever seen it...because I don't watch much TV to begin with ... but us *conservatives* take enough shit in this forum over Hannity and Rush and Anne and God only knows who else...you Stewart disciples can take a little bit of that back. ;)
Oh, and The New York Times at least, and most major networks have always had a liberal slant, FWIW...but I can't give you any exact names because I don't pay that much attention.

That would be a great thing to discuss in another thread. I'd like TRO, joechhehehchehehehajajajajaajaaaam, clandestino (where's he been lately anyways) and whoever else to join in. Because i remember TRO was showing me a while ago how the media was liberal.
From what I have seen, people think the media is liberal just because it does not conform to republican idealogy. But just because it does not comform to it, doesn't make it "liberal" And it sure as hell does not make it "Liberal" in the political sense. Just like me being fiscally conservative does not make me "conservative" in the political sense.

Too hilarious. Scoff his bias all you want, when he gives you straight up 100% from the horses mouth facts, conservatives dissapear to comment
Jon replayed how Cheney said we're in the "last throes" and the joint chief of staffs guy said the last throes would last 8-9 years
Right before that (this was too awesome) he showed how bush said today that he talked to his generals, and the number of trained, battle-ready Iraqi units has increased. He showed footage from cspan from TWO DAYS AGO that showed a general saying hte EXACT OPPOSITE
he said that if we're talking about battle ready trained operational units, I'd say the number has decreased from 3 to ONE!
To which Jon queried "do you think when bush says he talks to his generals he really just means, NOT ABOUT THE WAR IN IRAQ?!?"
Fucking crooked ass bush.
