Very clear teams are marking us on their calendar and delivering their best effort of their seasons against us. Houston has their best defenders at the worst positions for us...PG, SF and Center.

This. On top of this you compound it with refs that call a game in favor of the aggressor, and Spurs failed to match Rockets intensity. Games like this make me angry because I know the better team is not going to win.

To be fair...we are almost entirely comprised of role players...and role players play MUCH worse on the road. We also have OLD players as key contributors...and our stars LMA and Kawhi aren't the greatest shot creators. OUr team depends on great team play. Too many people suck on the road at once and we don't have the players to overcome that often.

We were down by 4 with about 39 secondos left and let them run a full 24 second possession, so that we were going to get the ball back down by 4 or 6 with 13 seconds left. Why? Not nearly enough time to let them take a full 24. Had to foul early!

I'm not really calling you out, bud. I get your point. But this was the Spurs at their worst. This was not the team that had racked up the biggest point differential in the league. It was just one of those nights when everyone is off their game. But they still had lots of opportunities - and they threw them away. And the clock management at the end? That's just not Spurs basketball. If they can keep it this close on a really bad night, that's good. But it was still a really bad night.

We were down by 4 with about 39 secondos left and let them run a full 24 second possession, so that we were going to get the ball back down but 4 or 6 with 13 seconds left. Why? Not nearly enough time to let them take a full 24. Had to foul early!

I was talking about when they didn't get a shot up on that last possession, knowing they were down 4 and had to score twice. The defensive play was the right thing to do. They missed the steal, and then couldn't catch the ball handler to foul. They had to run out that clock and hope for a stop.

The point is, if they had finished on just a few point blank shots, and moved the ball, they wouldn't have been behind by 4.

Are you fuckin' kidding me? Capela is longer than LMA & a pretty good defender. It's Terrance Jones that he murdered in the 2014 playoffs & Bobo was manhandling in the post (& getting murder by him on the other end) but Pop refused to give him the ball after he scored on him.

Capela has length, but LMA has the bulk to push him under the bucket and slam him through the basket along with the ball if he gets a little nasty.

I know you are talking about the last possession - and I agree. But I disagree with your strategy at the 39-40 second mark. No matter where it is in the shot clock, we need to foul quickly, preserve as much time and extend the game as long as we can. We were not going to make clutch shots and pull this one out anyway, but I do want more than 13 seconds to try to make up a 4point deficit.

My thoughts on the game:

1. Worst game I've seen Diaw play all year.
2. Ginobili reverting to Clippers series Manu.
3. Aldridge missing every time he takes a 17 plus foot shot on the move (like he has done all season). He shouldn't shoot outside 17 feet except for spot-ups.
4. Duncan waiting too long to get aggressive when it was clear the team needed him to have one of his big games.
5. Haven't looked at the stats; but Kawhi played well.
6. DG just looked terrible. I don't care if he remains a starter; but he should have to earn his minutes. Mills should've gotten more time.
7. Just too many missed good looks and careless turnovers. It was defense that had us in this game; but with more precise offense, this one would've been over half way through the fourth.
8. We should've went to the hack-a earlier; but perhaps Pop was trying to keep the league off his back. And on that note: Shut the fuck up, Jeff Van Gundy. If a player can't make free throws, we don't need to hear you bitching and moaning about the rules. Anybody can be a fifty percent plus free throw shooter.
9. A costly loss putting us five back of GS, who simply won't be racking up many L's against the lackluster competition.
10. Houston does not scare me at all if we should play them in the playoffs.

If Porker keeps turning into a pussy when there is an elite shot blocker on the floor (Dwight) then it's going to be like the 2014 Mavs series w/ Kawhi having to play the Manu role. It's pretty clear Patty can't guard Lawson & he's only going to get more comfortable in his role as a 6th man as he has been the worst rated point guard in the entire league thus far. Diaw also can't guard Terrance Jones although he can manhandle him in the post. Brewer/Ariza have also been in a season long funk like Danny but can bomb a better team out of a series as we saw them do against the Clippers. Harden also gives Kawhi trouble b/c of his herky jerky style & tends to hit BS dagger 3s against him. D-Mo also will jump hook D-West to death if they are matched up.

Spurs are on pace to win 60 plus games which in previous seasons would get you the number 1 seed unfortunately the warriors are on pace for 70. In the grand scheme of things this loss does not matter. Spurs are not going to catch the Warriors the important thing is just to focus on getting better every game and keeping the 2 seed. Not much to dwell about this loss in a nutshell the spurs just didn't give a shit about this game.

The problem here is that Houston's lineup gives SA problems and the max player Spurs picked up wasn't enough to turn the odds in Spurs favor.

Leonard is really good, but without an offensive player to take some load of Leonard, then Spurs are going to have a tough time against the Rockets.

LMA went to work right away when he was Jones on him & scored but Pop didn't got to that matchup. D-Mo fronted LMA & Dwight sagged off Tim to sandwich LMA, the issue was Tim's inability to hit midrange shot which goes back to the day's work of Yao. Tim made one outside shot in the 2nd half but then just went to work inside in the 4th quarter w/ LMA hanging around on the perimeter. Otherwise he was bricking or swinging the ball, it became an issue when D-Mo fronted LMA & Dwight prevented the high low pass by camping in the paint as that also meant Porker wasn't going to venture into the paint.:lol

I remember the Celtics game, the Spurs close out with LMA on the bench. It was Tim/Diaw if I remember correctly. Diaw had a terrific game against Boston.

4. Duncan waiting too long to get aggressive when it was clear the team needed him to have one of his big games.

Tim's played has dropped off lately and he's looked old but seriously? He's 40. It's a fcking shame that we'd ever need him to have 'one of his big games' to win.

99.9% of the other players throughout history his age were getting like 5 mins per game. We should never have to rely on someone that old to win games for us. And he still scored like 8 straight for us in the last 15 minutes.
