Yeah, tough to score on Boban. He's even surprisingly disciplined at not jumping on the jumpshooters when he gets caught in a mismatch. Dieng got him once, but he chopped his steps well the other 4 times or so and forced misses with his long arms. Only other success the Wolves had against him was drawing phony fouls on him that look worse because he's such a big guy.

Not saying Pop is a bad coach by any means, but his decision making in games and stubbornness has cost the Spurs several times in the past. Their record is nice and all, but the team really has had it easy thus far in terms of SOS. If Parker continues this trend of shitty play he needs to sit him a bit. I'd also like to see Boban get minutes but at this point none of the rotation bigs are playing bad so it'd be much harder to get him time.


At the NBA level, all the players are good. As teams have more opportunities to watch him in action, they are going to draw up ways to draw him out and get around him more. He's going to have to learn how to react, and the Spurs coaching staff (and players) are going to have to help. It's likely going to be a cat-and-mouse game, with him getting beat pretty badly some nights if he starts getting more minutes. (If/when that happens, check back in to hear some of the same people here saying that the sky is falling.)

People who speak with an accent are too often thought of as stupid. (That's not just an American thing. I've seen it all over the world.) Boban is a smart guy who has worked hard to constantly expand his game. He'll do that here. But even though I like him, he's not ready to come in and put the team on his shoulders as starting C, like a lot of people are starting to think. There is a lot to be said for having been in certain situations before. You sound like you get that. Like tonight when he got that rebound and stood holding the ball while he looked for who to pass to, and got his pocket picked from the back side. He just wasn't expecting that. By this time next season, he will be.

The one thing I've mentioned several times is that he's not just big, he's strong as hell and he doesn't mind banging down low. I really wanted to see him get some minutes against Dwight Howard the other night, and for Pop to just let him loose to give some hard fouls. I think he could get inside Howard's head - especially if he blocked one of his shots. Even if he just forced him to alter a couple. Guys like Howard and Cousins get twisted and their game goes to shit. I think he might be less effective against Randolph and Gasol, for instance.

He's improving a lot and becoming more familiar with NBA level action. Ball is swiped from his possession all to often, this is more due to inexperience in how quick NBA players can be. So how he held the ball in Serbia isn't how he should hold the ball in the NBA.

He shot 100% from the field. That's money in the bank. Wolves had two big guys in the paint and they were being shoved around like dolls.

Too bad we didn't see him humiliate Dwight. We shall see though come playoff time.
