Mills for all the good that he does has always only worked because Ginobili is the real pg when Parker is off the court. Tonight Ginobili will be out resting like many games to come. Will we lose? I would guess not but every game without Ginobili will be significantly more difficult to win and he will miss many do to rest and possibly injury this year. What will make it more difficult is the absence of Belinelli who brought some scoring ability.

Beyond that, with the loss of Joseph the team is much more reliant on Parker’s health throughout the regular season and playoffs because Mills isn’t an adequate backup pg and neither is McCallum.
Basically Mills offers no relief to two of the most vulnerable to injury players on the team. To quote Wikipedia, “In engineering (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engineering), redundancy is the duplication of critical components (https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Component) or functions of a system with the intention of increasing reliability of the system (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/System), usually in the form of a backup or fail-safe (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fail-safe).” Mills happens to not be very beneficial in that regard.

So the Spurs need someone who can shoot the three well to fit with Ginobili on the bench, be a better fit for the starting lineup than Mills or McCallum if Parker gets hurt, and possibly replace some of what we lost when Belinelli left us.

That player is Jarrett Jack. Mills would obviously have to go but Spurs should also be willing to trade KA and a first round pick if absolutely needed. Spurs should try to avoid giving the pick but the Nets can have KA. This should be appealing to the Nets since they aren’t in the best draft pick situation.
Jarrett Jack does more than solve the previously mentioned issues. He is talented enough to lessen the load every night for the other guys. He is 6’3.5 and has a 6’7.5 wingspan, so he is a much better fit in two pg lineups.

Perhaps the most beneficial thing about Jack is that he is a much better fit for a potential matchup with the Warriors. Jack has the size and defense to switch to 1 through 3 with Danny or Kawhi without being a huge liability on any given possession. To put his defense in perspective his opponents shot -0.1% worse in 2014(so normally they shot 43.1% and against him the shot 43%), they shot -0.4% worse in 2015, and so far in 2016 they have shot -1.7% worse. Parker’s opponents have shot 2.1%, 1.3%, and 10.3% better for the same years.

On the offensive end Jack will provide a pg with pg skills that can also shoot reliably from beyond the arc. Although Mills can shoot he doesn’t have the pg skills to play substantial minutes without Manu to share the court with him. Now that Kawhi is the player with the highest usage on the team surrounding him with three point shooters who aren’t just shooters like Green is a necessity. An offense cannot possibly flourish when the highest usage player is surrounded by only one three point shooter.

Exactly, people are taking this shit way overboard. The guy didn't play or root for the Spurs back in '13 plus he's from Houston and likely grew up a Rockets fan. Not really a big deal, especially when you realize that the greatest player in the franchise's history grew up a huge Los Angeles Lakers/Magic Johnson fan.

I mean, I feel like if I were all the sudden called up by an NBA team, I'd immediately go back to being a Spurs fan as soon as I was no longer employed by someone else. I think it's nice seeing players when they were just regular fans, without having to worry about the diplomatic part of it. Helps humanize them.

His celebration was hilarious. It's not like he was slurring Tim or Kawhi like ST posters do. That, I don't think would go over well in the locker room. But hey, look at what Nance Jr said about Kobe.

I'm not surprised and not even because he's from Houston. This is obviously a generalization backed up by no facts, but I'd imagine the Spurs aren't the most popular team among "African Americans" (funny how white Americans aren't referred to as European Americans, but I digress). For the most part, they don't have players that look or sound like them nor do they play the style generally associated with them, so they're probably seen as something like the Duke of the NBA.

I wouldn't go that far.... he's from Houston. Houston Rockets are a big Spurs rival. I am pretty sure he equally hates the Mavs.

Of course there's some bit of truth that 'light skin dudes' prefer the Spurs kind of play. Kyle Anderson is one of those light skin dudes. In fact, that's probably what Kobe Bryant was referring to when he told Clarkson to be more aggressive taking it too the hoop.

It indeed a fact that the Spurs are composed of a lot of light-skin dudes that does make an impression. There are only 3 dark-skin dudes in the Spurs, that is Leonard, LMA and Butler. Oh... although Patty make look African... he doesn't have a drop of African blood... he's Australian Aborigine.

Is it because of the personnel or is it because of the style of play?

That his private personality is very different from his interviews maybe? Has a large ego, making fun of NBA players?
... definitely in the troll business?
I wouldn't say that he has a large ego just because he shared that vine of Patty getting crossed up. When stuff like that happens it always spreads across social media.

I was speaking more in general.

Just because he's not mixed, Aldridge doesn't quality as a "dark skin dude". Leonard is the only one, but he doesn't fit the stereotype. Besides, let's face it, this predates him and is more about the big three, who are the faces of this era.

Obviously, there's no way of proving this, but I suspect they're highly popular among mixed people (particularly those that grew up in a predominately white environment) and foreigners.

Okay... then you are referring to "attitude"... so the only "Dark Skin dude" is Simmons?

No, Aldridge is just not dark skinned.

What I'm saying is, his hatred of the Spurs probably goes back to way before they even had Leonard and it was probably at least in part because they didn't have someone who looked like Leonard (at least in a prominent role) and didn't act, sound and play like he'd probably expect someone who looks like him to. In other words, he couldn't relate to them.

Is it because of the personnel or is it because of the style of play?probaby more play style than personnel if I was going that angle. Spurs don't run up the score and showboat much... Maybe a little personnel though. Kawhi gets a lot of love, he could possibly convert that AA audience. But for the most part, I think it's because these guys are more casual fans of the game than they would like to think and get most of their sports rhetoric from ESPN. I've seen the opinion shift the last few years though with the Spurs getting more love from the media. It used to be that the Spurs were boring whenever I would talk about them with people irl or in person.. now it's still that the Spurs are boring, but they hate em for being so good too lol

i live in Detroit so a lot of people here are still bitter about the 2005 finals lol but I follow people my age (early 20s) from around the country on Twitter, and the general consensus is the same. I've also went to university in Indiana my first two and have friends Illinois, Indiana, etc

All the light skinned dudes I know are Warriors or Westbrook fans, if they aren't fans of their home team. Tbh I honestly haven't met many Spurs fans in person. Most people are fans of their home teams or Warriors, Cavs, OKC, Bulls, or player fans. The Spurs fans I know from Twitter that aren't SA native are dark skinned surprisingly enough. Now obviously there are tons of Spurs fans outside of San Antonio seeing as our road games tend to sound like home games most of the time, these are just my experiences.

Spurs have a problem appealing to the casual fan. Not a lot of highlight plays and exceptional performances.

I think Curry gets a lot of love despite being a light-skin-dude.

The spurs is essentially a White Person team and a few foreigners. Its basically their market. Its reall about the players they have...the spurs has had numerous white players representing the white demographic.

I cant think of anyone in that last 10 years that had NIGGA written over him. Maybe Sjax, Leonard, Hill

I dont know why I'm surprised that this turned into a race thing.

But anyway I think the Spurs have the fanbase that they do because they aren't a flashy, showboat, "I'm the greatest player on the planet" type of team. Unfortunately a lot of fans, especially when it's not their home team, are only in it for the teams/players getting all the media attention and the highlights on Sports Center. Spurs will continue to be boring as long as the team culture remains the same.

Nah, Pop is like a Christian priest converting a Pagan to Christianity. Pop has exorcised the demons. Simmons' basketball soul is cleansed.
