Hi guys,

Curious where this forum stands on Hibbert v Boban? As we know Boban is on a one year deal and Hibbert is a FA next season. Given Hibberts ties here (trains here in offseason with Timmy, has former teammates West and Butler here), I think he is a strong candidate to come over this offseason.

I also think some team is going to take a flyer on Boban, not sure if we will be willing to keep him.

If it comes down to it, who would you want the Spurs to have? Or is the roster spot(s) better for someone else know

Personally I would try to keep both and move Bonner to a coaching role.

Gun to my head, I would take Boban. Fan favorite and 1 more year of exp. Hibbert is playable in more situations and has better D, but what can I say, I like Boban too much.

Hibbert was never that good. Best year, 12.8ppg, 8.8rpg, 2bpg in 30 mpg. This year 6.9ppg, 6rpg, 1.7bpg in 26 minutes. And now he is playing in the West instead of the shithouse East.

Boban smash Rookie year: 5ppg, 3rpg in 7 minutes per game

Hibbert Rookie year: 7ppg, 3.5rpg, 1bpg in 14 minutes per game.

Hibbert is on the way down. Boban is on the way up and a crowd favourite. Gimme Boban over Hibbert any day. Who knows what some dumbass organization will bid for Boban this offseason though, i'd love for him to stay in SA.

Boban is on a two year deal and the Spurs can go over to resign him. If we want him, we will keep him.

Pretty sure we only have Boban signed for 1 year at this point tbh

Would be sad to see him go.

Spurs' bigs for 2016-17:

Aldridge
Diaw
Duncan ?
West ?
Boban ?
Lalanne ?
Bonner ?

I bet we return 4 and possibly 5 of these guys. LMA and Boris are under contract - locks to return. I honestly don't know whether Tim will retire. Honestly don't know if West will retire, and if he doesn't whether we would bring him back. I suspect Boban returns - especially if both Tim and West retire. Lalanne will be on our roster probably to replace Bonner. His 3-point shot is developing very nicely in Austin. Bonner is, therefore, gone. One last thing; if we lose more of these guys than I expect, old Spur Ian Mahinmi is a possibility to return. He is a journeyman who has improved a lot since his entry into the NBA with the Spurs.

Al Horford or Marc Gasol via trade tbh.

He's on a one-year deal.

Not sure I want Marc, especially if we retain Boban. I have dreamed of adding Horford, though.

Hibbert was a world-changing center during the 12 games that he played to his potential. Then he presided over the biggest slide to mediocrity by a contending team that I can remember.

Marc shot 2/11 yesterday.

Remember when people thought he would be a better fit than LMA? :lol guards would literally P&R us to death

Hibbert is not going to get better, Boban can.

What are the probable salary ranges for all the guys mentioned as possible signings. Cash does matter, especially to our small market team. That's one of the reasons we were never players in the FA market until we made the desperation move for LMA

Only reason to trade for Marc would be for the La-Marc Gasol-dridge meme to take off.

Provided the Spurs want to keep all of Parker, Green, Leonard, LMA, Diaw and Mills, they probably won't have cap space. So the best hope is to get Tim and Manu to return one more year. They could create enough cap space to get a low- to mid-tier center like Mozgov or Noah. It's possible that Pau could opt out and join the Spurs, but that still has it's own problems.

Again. It is not beyond a shadow of a doubt Boban is not our best big man.

He has not been put in vs starters true but that's not his fault. So I don't hold it against him.

Boban has been arguably our best big man. Facts are facts.

we dodged a bullet, tbh :lol.Spurs have a mini facsimile of him in Diaw who knows the system better and is more valuable to our bench than what Gasol would have been to our starters with Tim still around....

What are the chances Spurs can keep Boban after this year, seems like he could get at least 5 mil plus

ceperez

Boban is a RFA next year. Spurs likely will be able to keep him.

Watched the game vs. Jazz. Boban played against the 7'3" Tibor Pleiss. Boban looked much bigger, so I don't know if they are exaggerating Pleiss height or Boban is actually 7'5".

However, you could see how much more nimble and quick Pleiss was compared to Boban.

Boban's offense is really good because the Spurs know how to get him the ball. It is Boban's defense that is problematic.

Duncan leads the league in DRPM at 6. Boban is #37 among centers. However for ORPM, Boban is #9.

A team picking up Boban will need to know how to get him the ball in the paint and know how to surround him with quicker players in defense.

Yeah I saw that. If that midget fro. The Jazz is 7 3 then Boban is a 7 6 behemoth
