34th now at -1.44.

I think he was around -4 at one point in the season. And this is despite him not really getting hot. Good news.

He's looked great on defense the past month tbh, and now his shot is gradually coming around. Good news.

Danny has looked better in the new year so I've got confidence in him (61% from 3 in 4 games). Nice to also see Manu 3rd and Simmons @ 19.

That block on Melo was the shit. Glad to see Danny coming back around. When this team starts peaking after the all star break, mother of god...

His defense has been outstanding as of late I've thought. Dat lateral agilities.

You beat me to it. Great block. Stopped on a dime and timed the jump. His defense has allowed him to contribute and get the pt he needs to get his offense going. If he can play d and hit the open 3, anything else he gives is gravy.

he's been great the whole year, gave a lot of effort and made plays. It was only a matter of time when the games would turn to the median and things would start going his way. Getting back some minutes is crucial tbh.

Danny has been a train wreck this year, but I am encouraged that his recent improved shooting will help him get back on track mentally.

Teams have adjusted how they defend him, and unfortunately the offense with the starters does not appear to be generating good open looks for him.

What was really concerning me is, that even is DRPM has been VERY bad relative to his past years performance:

DRPM
2015: .31
2014: 2.14
2013 2.72

From the last few games, danny does seem to be doing better with his man d, and I noticed his transition D was very good still. Hoping he continues to get back on track with his previous effectiveness defensively.

I think he was around -4 at one point in the season.

Was concerning to me too. Some games he really wasn't exerting the kind of effort he needed to, to stay on the floor when his shooting was so poor. It was like he was coasting a bit. Switches on defense but then lost track of his guy and helping in the paint and staying there instead of recovering to his man. . . PnR letting guys blow by. Got hit with backcuts a few times. Just a lot of little things like that.

Simmons did put in the fear. (nowhere near Danny as a defender, and nowhere near Danny as shooter), but when Danny wasn't defending like he needed to, and on top of that he wasn't shooting well, Pop had to look elsewhere and did for a string of games.

Just glad to have Danny back. This is the Danny that was/is part of a championship caliber team.

Given how good the Spurs D has been, it's relatively difficult to have a poor DRPM. I would expect Danny to (positively) regress to the 1.2-1.4 area. That would be about 2.2-2.3 over the rest of the season, obviously well within his capabilities.

Then again, 0.31 is positive, unlike Tony's -0.84 this year and the god awful -3.33 last year.
