Not only "why is this in the Spurs forum?" but also: "Where in the hell is the concern for those who are less fortunate?"

If you think San Antonio is overpopulated and you fear that it will become more overpopulated by an influx of people who have suffered misfortunes that they didn't create, then move somewhere else.

Personally, I think it's awesome that San Antonio has been ready, willing, and able to find the means to support our friends who need help. That's what life should be about -- not about some community provincialism that is unconcerned for the welfare of others. I have always loved this City, but I have been even more impressed by its heart in the last month or so. I don't care how many people live here; its the spirit that makes this community what it is.

Well said! My only question is what will happen if, heavan forbid, Houston gets significant damage from Rita?

Maybe they shouldn't have built all those houses in the known floodplain?

Of course we are going to help as many people as possible, but some people will have to take some responsibility for their own Goddamn actions. If you build your house in a hole, don't bitch when it gets flooded.

I grew up and still live on the Guadalupe River. No way I put even a temporary structure anywhere near the flood plain.
