Seriously, how does a near 40 year old guy have the best Defensive Rating in the NBA.
Oh, to answer the OP question, one who doesn't chug 20+ shots a game while only hitting a third of them.

a) Not sure how OP can "disown" Kobe. Didn't know he owned him to begin with
b) Kareem averaged 10ppg in his last year, Bill Russell averaged 9.9, Moses averaged 4.5, 5.3 and 2.9 in his last three seasons, Shaq averaged 9.2, Elgin Baylor averaged 10 his second last. Then Duncan averaged more per 36 than Wilt's last season, not to mention better DRtg, dws, and DBPM than all of them (stats available), so Duncan is doing fine.

Tbh the Spurs as a team are just shitting on the league on defense. The gap between their DRating and league average is the biggest gap any team has had as far back as 1970. So potentially biggest difference ever. Though to be fair Duncan still has the 2nd best career DRating in history, so this shouldn't be too much of a surprise he has a really good DRating.
He's not as good as he used to be ofc but he's still trying pretty hard and playing unselfish ball.

If you could switch places....with Kobe averaging 9 points and the Lakers being 2nd in the West (1GB 1st) you'd do it in a heartbeat. Also, Spurs fans wouldn't trade places with you. If Duncan averaged what Kirby does.....and that meant that we would be 15th in the West (:lmao 15th) none of us would do it.

Don't know how long it will last, but for the first time in a long time, we seem to be building through the draft: Randle, Clarkson, Russell and even Upshaw (if he gets his head together). So far each player has shown me what is expected of rookie and 2nd year players: they're all inconsistent at best. They show flashes, but that's about it. Most Laker Fans are spoiled rotten and hate to see us finally have to rebuild ("we don't rebuild, we reload" :lol) but not me. I want to see young players drafted and thrown into the fire. Let them figure it out. We got $65 million in cap space this summer to sign players to go along with our youngsters. I'll be interested to see what MK puts together...but to think we'll tank for the next 3 years? Nah :lol

When I say tanking - it's to keep a draft pick - and/or target a player (i.e. Spurs tanked for Duncan :toast). Doesn't mean we'll be a playoff team.
...and that's an indictment on Duncan. Kobe's missed the playoffs how many times? ...and Duncan's won 50+ how many times? Yet they're deadlocked at 5. Makes you wonder, huh? :downspin:

No, that shows the difference of playing with the best PG in the game instead of one that isn't known for his passing.
Duncan can easily score 15+ points a game. But with Kawhi, LMA, Parker ahead of him as far as a scoring option as starters, Duncan isn't going to avg that much. The reason that Kareem avg that much is because combined Worth, Scott, Magic and Cooper averaged 24 apg, which is insane. Kareem had so many easy buckets playing with that starting 5. Take Duncan where he plays with a starting four that avg. a combine 10.2 apg (excl. Duncan). That's right, they don't even surpass Magic's total for that season.
The 80's Lakers were truly an awesome and enjoyable team to watch.

Nice :downspin: - you maybe dumb, but it starts with San Antonio Independent Farm School District - not for what I wrote :lol
You're short in stature, so it's not surprising that my post went over your head. Nothing is a guarantee son. Well, maybe this: if y'all lose the last game y'all play this year, it's the biggest failure in NBA history. I guarantee you that I won't let you forget unless you get me pinked :lmao

NINE. I would disown Kobe if he ever averaged 9 a game.
So you disowned Kirbs after his rookie season when he only averaged 7.6 PPG?

Duncan getting his 5th really fucking broke you guys, tbh. The Daily grasping of straws is embarrassing. :lol
No, it was Duncan's 2nd 5th that did it.

Looking good.
Won't know how they match up with us until the 25th, though. We're 12-2 against them in the Curry era, so I'm not shaking in my boots, yet.
