View Full Version : Spurs/Warriors game could very likely be for the #1 seed...

...at least temporarily and not that it really matters, but here's what you've got:
Between now and then, Spurs have Phoenix & LAL (both on the road). Assuming we win both, we are 38-6 coming into the Golden State game.
Between now and then, Golden State has Cleveland and Chicago on the road and Indiana at home. They could very likely drop one of those and if they did, they come in at 39-5.
If that's the case and the Spurs beat GS, both teams come out at 39-6 and the Spurs have the #1 seed by virtue of the H2H for now.

Wow what a discovery. Certainly missed this on the threads discussing the warriors, seeding, and their first meeting. Good job OP.

The Spurs had better win both of the next two. Those are the worst two teams in the West right now.
The next three games will show how well the Warriors handle adversity. Not sure yet if that Pistons loss shook them or galvanized them.

If GS drops Cleveland and Chicago, and then loses to us expect a massive breakdown from the fans and media about "Spurs cheating" because you cannot lead the NBA after GS glorious start.
That would be cool, too bad Pop wont allow it.
If we are ahead on the game against GS, i expect Pop to go into super madman/asshole coach mode in order for other guys to have the tougher game possible.
Thatīs pop, he likes our guys to take the hard way...

That may be one of the most stupid posts I've ever seen here. If Pop brings the whole squad, and there's no reason not to with two full days off before and one after, he'll be going for the win.

Will the Spurs come home after the Lakers? or stay on the West Coast?

I would imagine that they'll hole up somewhere out there in order to keep their body clocks on PST.

Good luck with that. I'm sure it's already been done somewhere....

IMO it is very likely the Spurs end up with the #1 seed. The difference in MOV between the Spurs and Warriors continues to widen is now over 3 points per game. The Warriors are starting to play more close games and being a primarily jump shooting team it will catch up with them.

Well it is the talk of the NBA us only trailing by 1.5 games. Being we are only at the halfway mark it doesn't mean much as a lot of things can happen. I expect us to duke it out with GSW and the Thunerrefs to duke it out with the Clips, but who knows....

Meanwhile I'll just try to watch tonight's game and root for none of them.
Maybe they can both lose?
Spurs are in the top-3 conversation and increasingly looking like the leader of it. Even with half a season remaining, we should be happy with that, especially with the start the Warriors had and with Cleveland looking like another free pass to the Finals.
Either way, our lead over one of the other two will increase by half a game tonight, so it's win-win for the Spurs either way.

WOW with only half the season to go..
It's not absurd considering you have two teams who could each surpass 70 wins.

This game will be to put us within 1 game back at best, tbh. Tonight's game just made our next game at the Cavs harder, too.

Let's hope the bulls can do us a favor tomorrow night. Christ if they can simply play some semblance of D on the perimeter and make them work for their shots I'll be happy!
