This is totally unnecessary and pointless.

Maybe they can add little trails to the ball like FOX did to the puck in NHL games years ago.

I hope it's not too distracting...but that's probably what they said when the first down line was introduced to NFL broadcasts.

That's fine. But a travel spotting technology would be better.

Senior coordinating producer Tim Corrigan says "it will give viewers instant clarity on whether a 3-point shot has been attempted, which hasn't been consistently evident during a live telecast."

Instant clarity? WTF? if viewers cant see when players are attempting a 3 pointer they need to pay attention and try to analyze/understand better the game.

If only there were something else we could look at to see if a player's shot was good.

Dude- I got both my dogs some cattle kneecaps to snack on and they both have had the Montezuma's Revenge for the past 2 days.
Been walking them 8 times a day, and let me tell you: it's an ugly scene every time. I'm talking they're painting whole sections of ground with their explosive...
I need no reminders of poop right now.

Useful information. I will not purchase these for my dogs.

They need to light up the rims too, so dumbshits can tell if the ball goes through?

If it doesn't give any advantage, it's not evolution, it's just mutation.

The light-up first down marker on a football field serves a purpose - because there's not a line there already. The 3P line is already painted on the court. Having a virtual line that lights up on top of it is as useless as an Apolisoc thread.

Will they also add skittle mode and triple flip dunking spots? PLEASE?!?!?

This must have been suggested by the warriors. They want to show off that they can light up the three point line the entire game. What's next, the net will go on fire?

Chinook

This is really dumb mainly because it will do NOTHING the regular line doesn't already do. It won't show definitively whether anyone's shot behind the line. I could understand a sensor in shoes that can demonstrate for a fact where the shooter's feet were, but not a superimposed line.

always the same problem: because you can do it doesn't mean you should do it.

The first down line is never lined up properly. Drives me nuts.

I really don't understand how this is supposed to be helpful. The only time I could see it being beneficial is when the shooter's toe is so close to the line that it necessitates a replay, but I don't see how a telecast is going to be able to determine that real-time any better than the naked eye can. At which point, this is nothing but useless flash and frills.

I'm all making things look flashy, but for them to insinuate that this is going to make the game easier to interpret is undermining the knowledge of even the most casual NBA fans.

Maybe as a joke someone could paint the FT line with metallic paint, and the little magnet inside the ball would stick to it!

And then they could put little pressure sensors inside all the uniforms, and all the fouls could be called automatically. But they STILL wouldn't know whether it was a block or a charge.

Ooh, ooh... little sensors on everyone's fingertips, so the clock would always start at the right time, and we would always know if the shot got off before the buzzer.

I can see right now that technology is going to change the way basketball is played. Hey, this evolving stuff is fun!

Nothing to get worked up about. I will wait to watch to see if I like it or not. On the surface doesn't seem to add anything, but who cares, most likely a non-event and if it sucks it will go away.

I'm not sure I need to see it any better.

Maybe they can add little trails to the ball like FOX did to the puck in NHL games years ago.

I liked when they did that. The puck is hard to track sometimes.

And when they added random music tracks to middle of plays in football games.

But the best part is when they show the fan who runs onto the field and gets tased

They need spots on the court for 4 pointers and a 6th guy just to guard the spot
