I'm going to search for instructions, but so far I have not been able to take manual control of updates. It's really annoying when I set it so it won't update on metered connections, but still robs data from my hotspot, with no way to stop it from using my limited GB but to turn off the hotspot.

An help would be appreciated.

I did this:

http://www.howtogeek.com/224471/how-to-prevent-windows-10-from-automatically-downloading-updates/

I will try it when I get back to work. maybe it thinks my cellular wifi isn't metered.

Check this article, especially the bottom part with the group policy editor:

How is Windows 10 btw?

Compared to 6 months ago when it came out, that is.

ElNono (http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/member.php?u=8054) fuck this computer, I'm dumping it. Still having that one problem.

I am looking at this one. Really like it, so probably will by the end of next week.

Still doing research on what's best for me.

Solid for what I needed for. No need for gaming on it.

I've been running Win10 at home and work and it's been good to me, tbh...

That system should be ok, just the CPU is a bit older gen (they normally are by the time they hit best buy), you might want to look into this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883158891&ignorebbr=1

It's basically the same system, but with a Skylake i3 6100U. It's a little newer gen CPU than the A8 one, has a bit more cache, and support for newer instructions.

Here is directly at Dell for $650:
http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-24-3459-aio/pd?oc=fddoors409s&model_id=inspiron-24-3459-aio

At Amazon you can configure it in white, but ends up costing $729:

I don't like Windows 10, but I'm getting used to it.

I changed another setting and now it's only time for me to see if Windows 10 does it again on me or not.

Is this "free" upgrade real? I've been told different stories, and I can deal with Windows 10, but like Windows 7 better.

Think I should switch before the free upgrade is discontinued?

The thing with 10 vs 7 is that if you have newer hardware, you're probably better off with 10... you can do stuff like install UEFI, which boots faster and most drivers for new stuff are built in... things like USB3 wasn't even supported out of the box in 7.

All 7, 8, and 10 are robust OS'es, I just thought 8 was awkward if you don't have a tablet or touch interface. Windows 10 kinda fixed that by allowing you to switch between either mode.

And the "free upgrade" is definitely real. I updated both from 7 and 8 to 10... I don't know how long it's going to last though.

The thing with 10 is that if you're more privacy minded, you should definitely turn off a few of the call home features, like cortana, or "telemetry"... but other than that it works pretty well.

I turn it all off.

I would like to... call it boycott Microshits ways. problem is, i don't think it will matter if myself and so many other people hold out.

I hate the privacy issue bullshit. I can't believe there is the acceptance of 10 that there is. I hate it for a matter of principle rather than any worries for myself, and have diligently change all settings I know of. With there unethical practices, I wonder how many settings I didn't find.

I think Microshit should be broken up, like the government did with ma bell many years back. Microshit is too damn powerful.

Mi negro!

I used best buy as a reference. I was going to check that one out, see how it looked in person and played around with it then buy it online for possibly less.

Those that you listed are definitely within my price range so I'll trust in your knowledge and go with the first link. :tu

I actually like that black matte finish more.

Newegg has a 30 day money back guarantee in case you don't end up liking it, tbh... and I heard good stuff about the Skylake i3...

If it would be for me, I would probably rip out the HDD and put something like this in instead:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-2-5-Inch-Internal-MZ-75E500B-AM/dp/B00OBRE5UE/

But that's a lot more work, and for what you're trying to do with it, it should be fine. Take it for a spin and see how it performs...

Yeah, thanks. I will.

Unless you're willing to drive down here, taking shit apart isn't my specialty so we'll just leave that. LOL

you either have old drivers or your harddrive is dying.

Article on drivers update:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/wiki/insider_wintp-insider_devices/how-to-install-and-update-drivers-in-windows-10/a97bbbd1-9973-4d66-9a5b-291300006293

Here's about harddrive errors:
https://www.reddit.com/r/24hoursupport/comments/3fowim/windows_10_periodic_every_24hrs_unexpected_store/?

You could also try switching your IDE to AHCI in the BIOS if supported. You might also want to check if there's a BIOS update for your mobo.
