WHEELER RIDGE, California (AP) -- A magnitude 3.6 earthquake shook an area north of Los Angeles early Friday, one day after a series of quakes rumbled through the region.

There were no reports of injuries or damage from Friday's 3:21 a.m. quake, an aftershock to Thursday's temblors in the San Joaquin Valley about 70 miles northwest of Los Angeles.

The Thursday quakes began with a magnitude-3.4 jolt, which was quickly followed by a 4.7 quake, according to the U.S. Geological Survey in Pasadena.

There were also several lesser aftershocks.

"We felt it pretty good, like someone picked up the store and shook it," said Donald Sullivan, an employee at the Mettler Renegade truck stop and gas station.

The quakes happened near the White Wolf fault. The last time that fault caused a major earthquake was in 1952 when an estimated magnitude-7.5 quake killed 12 people and injured 18.

Those are pretty small quakes. But hopefully not a precursor to a larger one.

Well remember we are still moving farther apart on the plates..

Anyone that lives on San Andrea's knows the risk.. and made the choice..

We know it will break off and form an island or sink underwater... one of the two..

We just don't know when..

The earth is a giant living things.. it's not supposed to just stay the same.. it's always changed.

You don't really even notice a quake less than 4.5 unless it happens right where you're at.

You don't really even notice a quake less than 4.5 unless it happens right where you're at.

Yeah and you have to be absolutely still to feel it at that.

there was a whole series of little quakes yesterday afternoon. about 80 miles away from la, i believe. the largest was a 4.7 (a few 3-somethings before and after too). the 4.7 was the only one i felt (i live a few miles west of downtown).

it's weird. i still don't realize that it is an earthquake until it is over. yesterday, my annoying neighbors upstairs were making alot of noise so at first i thought it was them... then it continued and i realized it was an earthquake. oops.

The freaky part was on Thursday I was having at a lunch meeting and talking about all the natural disasters of late (the tsunami, Katrina, etc.) and mentioned that Cali was due for an earthquake. We haven't had a big one since Northridge over a decade ago. I woke up the next morning and read about all these little quakes that happened on Thursday continuing into Friday and freaked out.

But as mentioned above, they were little and I know I didn't feel them.

Ha ha ha! Oh gosh that's funny! That's really funny! Do you write your own material? Do you? Because that is so fresh. Rosanne Barr. You know, I've, I've never heard anyone make that joke before. Hmm. You're the first. I've never heard anyone reference, reference that outside the program before. Because she's fat, right? Isn't she? Rosanee Barr falling out of bed. And, and yet you've taken that and used it out of context to make a joke in this everyday situation. God what a clever, smart girl you must be, to come up with a joke like that all by yourself. That's so fresh too. Any, any Titanic jokes you want to throw at me too as long as we're hitting these phenomena at the height of their popularity. God you're so funny!

Happens everyday. It has for years. I went to HS in the Monterey Bay and lived in Santa Cruz for a fr before I joined the USAF (from which I have been retired from after 23 yrs). We NEVER made a big deal of tremors/quakes then. Perhaps we should start a thread to see if it is Bush's fault by comparing the numbers from when Carter/ Reagan/ Bush 1/ CLITon were in orifice...I am sure the lefties would have numbers for this.

BY THE WAY, I WOULD MAKE THE SAME ARGUMENT AND ASK FOR PROOF IF A LEFTY WERE IN OFFICE. I DO NOT CARE ABOUT PARTY CRAP!
