Future HOFer ladies and gentlemen :king

Been posting some nice numbers lately, getting acclimated within Spurs' system more and more.
So, let's gather in this shaky and deteriorated ceiling-less temple and hope for the best.

Gerald Brown from SiriusXM NBA radio says LaMarcus and Kawhi are a product of the spurs system. LMA has only played half a season with the spurs and now he is a system player? Give Gerald Brown a nobel prize. He's discovered something. lol

Aldridge's FT shooting is a perhaps underrated weapon in the offense. He and Kawhi shoot most of the Spurs' FTs, so given their high FT% it's no surprise that the Spurs are second in the league in FT%. Remember all those years bitching about the Spurs being near the bottom of the league in that category?

Amendment on LMA's rebounding, love the offensive rebounds but not the defensive ones, which are more important though less glamorous. Our big man of the future needs to make the paint his domain and defensive rebounds should be priority #1.

He's coming out to contest shots instead of hanging under the basket. That is a Pop strategy. He's rotating defensively to contest shooters so he will not be in position to grab boards as often. When he is in position he boards and boxes out.

He's been great post the debacle in Oracle..I know he won't win over many of his detractors on this board, and many of us quite frankly, until he plays like the star we paid him to be and come up big vs the Warriors, Thunder and co....The Aldridge of past week--20ppg/8rpg-- is the only way we are going have chance against the Dubs..

The other teams have been getting alot of offensive rebounds lately which is the stat that tells the tale of rebounding the most because defensive rebounding depends on the amount of misses. I agree that hes been getting alot of blocks but he needs to be mr everything down there, like Timmy is.

LMA seems to be dialed in and focused. If he's talking about regular season per se, there's an irony here. Taking his PER 36 numbers (he's just playing 29 mins per game), he's having a GREAT season so far. Arguably better than his previous 9th seasons combined. And, openly or not, players look into this kinda of things. And if not them, SURELY their agents ARE. So maybe he's referring to his (isolated)numbers in Worriers and Cavs games when he said “I didn’t come (to SA) to have a good regular season”. All in all, he IS.

Let's take a look...

AVGs 2006 - 2015
AVGs 2016 (PER 36)

MIN - 35.2
MIN - 29.7 (actual mins non per 36)

PTS - 19.3
PTS - 20.6

REB - 8.4
REB - 10.2

AST - 1.9
AST - 1.7

%FG - 48.7
%FG - 50.4

%FT - 78.9
%FT - 83.8

The good news for Spurs fans is having LMA and Kawhi for the next 4-5 years. LMA (as I've said before) is a Dirk like player without three point range. He can get his shot off against anyone with the high release point. These guys will be able to play off each other too.

Hopefully the "Other" guys will step it up throughout the playoffs. This team looks pretty locked in right now. Although they missed a ton of open shots and layups last night.

Assuming he retires a Spurs in 5 or 6 years, and he contributes to multiple championships, maybe a FMVP or two, what's the highest you'd rank him? Could you ever see yourself putting him over players that played their whole career with the Spurs? (Gervin, D Rob, Manu, Tony, Kawhi, etc)

Amazing Aldridge

LaMarcus Aldridge scored 38 points in 29 minutes, 32 seconds. The Elias Sports Bureau notes that is the most points scored by a player who played 30 or fewer minutes in a playoff game in the shot clock era (since 1954-55). The previous mark of 36 was set by Nick Van Exel in 2003.

Aldridge finished with 18 baskets, one field goal shy of the record for most by a Spurs player in a playoff game. The record of 19 was set by George Gervin in 1979 and matched in 1980.

Aldridge was a perfect 15-of-15 from the field when taking a shot off a pass from a teammate, including 6-of-6 on passes from Tony Parker. He was also 10-of-10 on shots that were catch-and-shoot.

Serge Ibaka and Steven Adams tried but could not stop Aldridge. He went 16-of-19 when guarded by them.

If he could do that once every 4 games, and be good the other three, he will be top 5 and have a couple rings.

That being said, one game. I want consistency.

Excited to see him expand his range in games more often. There was times he was out rebounding all of gsw by himself. Constantly surrounded by 3 jerseys, still getting boards.

Was good to see him outplay green, as green got the better of him a few times. He muscled green down low this game, something he didn't actively do last year.

No way GSW would have legs after grinding with the spurs front court in a 7 game series. Lma makes that possible. Him and kawhi will have their number if they don't upgrade the front court.

I believe there are a number of teams that have the personnel to muscle the Dubs in their current configuration and, therefore, compete with them. Plus, I think that there are some better coaches than Kerr. The Dubs have no real choice but to make a pretty serious move if they want to even return to the Finals - much less win a ring.

This man has been a monster of late. Again (like Forbes) we might hate this guy in a game or two, but I'm confident in saying that many of us are passengers on L-train for now. His Ppg since 12/2:

29, 16, 21, 14, 20, 18, 27, 29, 20, 20, 10, 18, 27, 24, 38, 32, 23

The last 5 games, especially have been amazing. Since the beginning of December he's averaging 22.7 on 59% shooting and 24.1 ppg in the last 10. Numbers don't jump off the page, but it looks like the LMA of the early season has faded away (pun intended) and with his energy, use of his big body in the post, and steady feeding from White, Demar, and everyone else, he seems to rolling along. His confidence is clearly key and Demar is really good at building that (I like how he mentioned that in his post-game interview btw and how he commended his teammates). Also, his decision making out of double teams has looked really good (of course it helps when Bryn, Bertans, Beli can hit 3s and Demar, White can make quick, smart decisions when they get the ball from LMA being doubled). Anyway, I just wanted to commend the big man.

I'm in too! I don't understand all of the hate! Yes, he asked for a trade as he was not part of the offense and all I saw was the Spurs relying completely on Kawhi and when he went down they were all off! Once he talked with Pop and they started to add him to the offense, he has been back to what the Spurs signed him in the first place.

One thing I noticed of LMA is that he looks happy you can tell him and DEROZZ are getting along and friends. That is one thing I like about DEROZZ and White they always looking for LMA on lobs and easy dunks for him.

Ya I love that. Gives him confidence and he gets going. Plus it always helps to get easy points for the team.

In the Toronto game, when DD was sitting on 9 assists with a huge lead, I was’t sure that Pop would put him in again. When he did, the FIRST trip down the floor, the two of them ran a pick and pop, and LA hit the face up jumper. He just had a HUGE smile on his face, knowing that DD had just gotten his first tripdub.

15 Games of at least 30 points, Spurs 11-4 (.733 winning percentage) in those games.

28 games overall of at least 25 points, 22-6 (.785 winning percentage) in those games.

:lma:lma:lma

Funny how winning percentage is expressed as a fraction.

Too bad LMA and Gay are not 3 years younger. We would definitely have a great shot at winning it in the next 3 years when Murray and Walker shape into form. LMA is definitely on the down swing of his career. Hope we can get lucky in the playoffs and at least get him to the finals this year or next.

Upped as LMA saved this team again in crunch time.
