Roko Leni-Ukic is blowing up! Every time I see this kid play, I am left wondering why he was afraid to move to the NBA...and play "what-if" about the Spurs passing on him to select Mihinmi.

Come on Ian, make us forget Ukic.

(still short-sighted and bitter the Spurs didn't listen to me on draft night)

Maybe the Spurs felt they couldn't coach him 5'' taller.

Ian plays quite well for the moment.
Last season he averaged 6 ppg and in the preseason games of the upcomming season, he averages around 13 ppg.
Ukic has maybe made some good games but Spurs have still Parker and Udrih at PG.

Good to hear Ian's picking up the O. I'll stick with an athletic 6'11" - 7' prospect.

Croatia blew the game today. Ukic was very impressive, then they rested him during the last couple of minutes. Croatia missed a FT that would have made the lead 4. Then in the last seconds, Spain made 1 FT, then missed the second but Croatia didn't box out and Vasquez battled for the ball and put in the short shot to tie the game...then won it going away in OT.

Back to Ian...I am glad the Spurs got another bigman because skilled, athletic bigs are hard to find. I just hope he gets good developmental attention there.

Speaking of Ukic, what about Spain's guard La Bomba Navarro? 18pts in OT? He has been absolutely on fire this tournement and has been an even better scorer than Dirk. I wonder if he will cool down in the final four? However, I must say his scoring potency and efficiency has been impressive.

Navarro was good but his points in OT were bloated by FTs, coming from fouls - both frustration and intentional fouls.

Wizards have drafted him in 2002 with the 40th pick and owned his nba right.

I just watched NBAtv's highlights of the end of regulation and Croatia got a raw deal, no question about it. Juan Carlos Navarro missed the second of 2 FTs and Marko Tomas went up with full extension and pulled down the rebound for Croatia...however, Spain's Jorge Garbajosa stuck his right leg out and tripped Marko as he was coming down with the ball. It's the type of play that is dangerous because Marko was forced to fall hands and ball first. Naturally the ball came loose as he crashed to the floor and Vasquez was there to collect the easy loose ball and score the game-tying basket. Raw deal right in front of the ref.

Saw the game on replay last night. Vasquez looks like a hell of a talent. Roko is a very nice pickup too. Still have high hopes for Ian though.

It will be interesting to see Vasquez going against Dirk assuming they matchup.

The time has come, Solid D. Roko is about unleash his fury on the unsuspecting NBA.

The Raptors also have a verbal agreement in place to bring over PG Roko Ukic, their 2nd round pick in the 2005 draft.

This guy is worthless. Saw him play live a couple of days ago in prep game for olympics qualifiers against Slovenia. Not good enough to be a backup in the NBA.

He is not worthless, but he ain't something special either. He will have hard time adjusting to nba.

Nice bump, timvp. The NBA level places physical demands on players, so Ukic needs to add some strength. He plays the game with a special flair though and he sees the floor well. That's what I like about the kid.

Are you still playing "what if" on Mahinmi vs Roko?

No, I'm fully engaged with the Mahinmi plan. timvp has elephant memory...and he bumped the thread. He knows I'd do the same thing. :smokin

Oh well EricB thought he was a scrub. He wouldn't listen to Ruff or anyone else telling him otherwise.

Mr Solid D I just wanted to say great thread. You seem to have made a good call on this kid. He has potential.

The kind showed he has potential at least, but yeah it was one game.

Ukic has showed his skills all year..he's been good at penetrating and breaking his defender all season..

his flaws are that he makes A LOT of bad decisions, and he's a bad outside shooter..

he shouldn't be scoring 20+ against anybody, but he was clearly on fire tonight..when he makes 2 3's, including 1 in clutch time, you know he's on fire..

He made some ugly shots out there. He looked just as surprised as everyone else that some of those shots went in.

But he deserves props for the performance . . .

And if Ian is healthy, playing with Duncan..........

Exactly.

Udrih had games like this and some people were ready to label him the next John Stockton.

Andrea with 23; Roko with 22 and Jason with 21.:wow:wow

Those I trust told me he was better suited for the NBA than Europe.

Yes because 1 fluke ass game, a player makes.

He has speed and probably ball handling to be a good point guard in NBA but he lacks in all other areas. He was mediocre point guard in Euroleague and nothing more. So talent wise he has NBA level but probably as a 3rd string player.

I'm a big Hill supporter, and am very excited at his future prospects, but he turned Roko Ukic, into Roko "own-him" (as in Hill) tonight.

I don't know what it is about Hill, but it seems like if he doesn't either make his pull-up jumper early on, or receive a cheap-shot/hard foul, he just seems to be a non-factor, offensively, most of the time when he's on the floor.

Come on "Havoc!" You're better than that.:ihit
