Reduced role, of course, you take him. I am not so sure about mentoring Kawhi. Maybe let him take Ryan Richards under his wing instead.

if we pretend that Kobe was not a diva, was willing to take a reduced role, would not be a cancer when he does not get enough shots, did not pout when he gets benched for hijacking the offense, really was happy a la West to take a role that arguably is below what he could still contribute, then yes.
But all that is so far from reality it is kind of pointless to think about.
There is a better chance that medical technology will develop nano-tech to reverse aging, and duncan can continue to play for another 10 years+, than the scenario where Kobe's extreme character flaws magically get removed from his gargantuan ego.
Oh great this thread again. Because we needed another thread about stupid things that will never happen.

You should try harder. Making the same thread two weeks later is pretty fucking bad, even by shitty Laker fan standards.

If he was willing to come off the bench and mentor our guards, maybe. That shit would feel so wrong though.

He has several problems:
- 1 point / shot volume offense
- no defense
- dribbles too much, which would make others inefficient as well
Kobe would have do reinvent himself as a role player. At min salary its a small risk.

He's retiring so not even worth a IF or a thread tbh, ends there.
No. He`s done, he`s got too much ego for that.

That could squeeze another farewell tour and round of tributes. So far Kobe has been decent in his last visit to various arenas.
Eh, who am I kidding. Hell no.

Absolutely. I think the Austin Spurs should definitely consider signing him if he was willing to come for the minimum.

No. Has no business here as a player. However as him and Pop have such respect for each other I would not be surprised if he came down and helped Pop with training camp or summer league etc for a short while.

I could see him as a guest in training camp too. Pop all ready asked him to mentor Leonard and says he will.

Kobe should become the Spurs' new head coach next season - and be the starting SG as well. He is such a great basketball mind, he will teach Kawhi and LMA and Duncan and all the others how to play the game and pass on his unprecedented will to win.

You guys are crazy, yes sign him. As long as he doesn't have to wave to the crowd after every game, that would be a huge distraction. It looks like he's done though, so it will never happen.
