DPG - Please keep your mouth shut about Cam....not only did the media not say anything about Paeyton Manning walking off the field after the Superbowl 44 loss and not shaking Drew Bree's hand but they went a step further and made excuses for him as noted below....
https://youtube/ac_ (https://youtu.be/ac_JtIRnNHo)JtIRnNHo
Apparently some think this is a sign of poor sportsmanship from the NFL's greatest player. It's not. Walking off the field without congratulating Drew Brees may go against our misguided notion of what sportsmanship should be, but it wasn't at all disrespectful or bitter. It shows how much Peyton Manning wanted to win the game. And who can argue about that?

All of these phabgots got something to say a out Cam...but didn't say shit when Peyton acted like he had no fucking class...
Former linebacker Bill Romanowski tweeted that the newly minted MVP would "never last in the NFL with that attitude (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/king-bill-romanowski-calling-cam-newton-boy-racist-article-1.2523980)," calling him a "boy" in the process. NFL Network's Deion Sanders said "you can't do that (http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/deion-sanders-lights-up-cam-newton---you-can-t-do-that-055241681.html)" in a press conference. The New York Times' Michael Powell wrote a piece about how Newton "[fell] short on leadership (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/02/09/sports/super-bowl-carolina-panthers-cam-newton.html?_r=0)."

Here's another half-hearted recognition of Petyons lack of respect for his opponent during the Super bowl..that they still excused....they would have afforded no such excuse had Cam done this....
A piece in Fox Sports at the time acknowledged the poor sportsmanship, but also seemed to defend Manning's point of view. "Was it poor sportsmanship for not shaking hands with Saints players? Sure. But after what had just transpired in Super Bowl XLIV, I wouldn't want to look back either (http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2010/02/08/manning-beats-unhappy-hasty-retreat.html),"the article read.

And for what it's worth, Newton's press conference was held in close proximity to where Broncos players were being interviewed. So when he was answering questions, he did so while Broncos cornerback Chris Harris Jr. was audibly bragging in the background. Eventually, he decided to leave.

You are allowed to believe Newton should have continued his press conference and spoken at length, but if you do, ask yourself how you felt when Manning walked off the field. If you didn't throw Manning's character in the mud for what he did in 2010, consider not doing the same with Newton in 2016.

Sportsmanship happens between the players. Cam showed sportsmanship to Manning. Sportsmanship does not happen between the quarterback and the press. If they want an interview, they can have one at the pleasure of the player.

Another excellent opinion....
Done Deal.
You live and you learn! Newton definitely has some maturing to do and I believe he will. Peyton was well into his thirties when he made his error (running off the field and not acknowledging the Saints), but he learned. At the time Peyton was the standard, he was viewed as the ultimate sportsman dealing with his loses to the Patriots. He was totally disrespected by Belicek when they finally beat the patriots, Peyton tried to shake his hand and dodged his hand as he ran off the field. Now that was a classless act! The funny thing about that is that the media didn't hammer him.

Enough with the race card already. Cam is a front runner pure and simple.....when he is ahead, everything is fine and he is clownin, smilin, and being quite obnoxious.......but once he gets behind or loses, he acts like a pouty spoilex brat who doesn't want to play anymore. He has been this way since college.
I have no issue with his antics all year long. However, as the face and leader of the team, when the chips are down he needs to act in a more mature and level-headed manner. He showed very little composure during and after that game yesterday. He was the anti-MVP.
As far as peyton walking off the field and not shaking hands, who cares? A lot of players and coaches do this after a very tough loss. I see no issue with it. Hell, the Bad Boys all walked off the court together when the Bulls finally beat them.....and the game wasn't even over.

The SAWM's always say enough with the race card while constantly playing it in life..what do you think this is some kind of shell game....you're a gotdam moron biggems if you think you can talk me off the ledge...you're not smart enough tbh...:lol
...and let's not cloud the issue.....sure he celebrates has nothing to do with handling the media....he showed graciouness to Peyton whereas Peyton didnt show graciouness to Brees.....he owes the media nothing but the league mandated 3 mins....and he gave them 3 min 15 sec...more than required....
And of course you would excuse Peyton showing no class....I expect you white folks to carry on this double standard and you couldn't have given me and better proof in this thread.....Cam didnt stay to answer all the couch potato questions but Peyton is within his right to disrespect fellow players by walking off the field as the QB no less...
Shut the Fuck up and keep playing that race card just like my OP states.....
Koolaid_Manic off his lithium again.
I agree with kool. You are not league mvp and also a front runner. It's ridiculous, even with that loss, he's still a top ten talent.. The people who suck are the marginal talents who act like divas. If you are a legit star you can act however you want. The NFL is a dog and pony show. You collect your checks and leave.
I agree it's 100% about race. People are afraid black man gonna take their jobs. Quarterback is the last white position advantage (well pk and such). Cam shatters the black ceiling and the white people shake.

What does being a sore ass loser and poor sport have to do with race? Why wasn't that mother fucker smiling, dabbing, and taking pictures on Sunday night? Crofl simple fact is this has nothing to do about manning and everything with Von Miller and Demarcus ware treating cam like the bitch he is. Lol even other black nfl'ers are calling cam a little bitch for jumping away from the fumble. That race card bullshit is a convenient distraction people like to throw out there to sidetrack the truth. It's the equivalent arguing with someone that uses the hollering repeating tactic in order to over power someone's educated thoughts.

It's definitely not about race. A black man won SBMVP. Russell Wilson is loved and respected. Other black players go in on Cam it's not just racist old whitey.
Obviously the big difference in reactions to what Manning did vs Cam is earned respect. Manning, more often than not, has conducted himself in a positive way. Whether or not it's honest or just an act, he at least put forth the effort to craft an image and seems to be widely respected not only by the media/fans, but his peers.
He's won - that alone has silenced critics. Cam hasn't won anything, although he made strides there this year by winning MVP and getting to a Super Bowl.
But the difference in reaction to Manning and Cam is that with Manning, it was shrugged off as a one-time thing because he has a history of respect. Cam is not really liked by a lot of people because of the cocky act (which I have no problem with) but his actions speak to an "I told you so" mentality that everyone knows this is Cams true colors when the chips are down. He doesn't have a history of conducting himself with dignity after a loss so he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt like Manning did/does.
It's not white or black at all. Even black peers to Cam are calling him out and seem to geninunely not respect him. They think he's talented, but they don't respect him or his attitude.

I was stunned when I discovered who he was giving those footballs to in the end zone stands. I figured he was giving them to black kids. So, I watched one game and found he was giving them to white children. Now, sure, he could have stood out there till doomsday looking for a black kid, but, my point is:::he knew there were no black children within a half mile of that end zone row and yet he goes there nonetheless. So, I was enamored of The Newton. Till the two weeks he spent before SB baiting my race.
Why?

It's not an excuse. If Russ pulls a Cam sometime it will be swept under the rug like Manning. Why? He's black just like Cam but he's earned the rep of stand up guy. Cam had a real chance to grow up and he took the lesser path. He can still be a great player & man (off the field) but with pro athletes this stuff matters.
Sure they aren't obligated to be role models, but you then can't cry about the scrutiny. It comes with the territory of being paid an obscene amount to play a sport.

But, the people who love to hate them usually can't get to them. When you tease & torment the loyal opposition, after they've told you time immemorial to knock it off then you've only yourself to blame with the ball is snapped and they take off after you like the last pork chop on the plate. They wanted that black man,,,white & black alike.

Lol. Winning regular season games and dancing around to fall short of an actual title isn't winning. Not in the context of my Russ, Manning comment. Everyone "knew" Cam would resort to pouting in the real moment and he did. He hasn't earned the respect to act how he wants. For big personalities the only way to silence people is to win it all.

He didn't do his part. People are allowed to celebrate when they win - to the victor go the spoils and Cam celebrates when he wins more than anyone. He dances and takes "team photos", and talks trash with the media. Which is fine. Nothing wrong. Just like there is nothing wrong with celebrating on the field (as long as you aren't being a disrespectful a-hole).
On the flip side, he acts way worse when he loses than anyone. He can't have his cake and "play with joy" only to lose his shit when things go wrong.
It's not just the interviews either. Russ, even when down and playing awful, is on the sidelines engaged and rallying the troops. Cam stands there with that dumb look and literally rolled around on the ground like a baby by himself on that holding call.
He's a front runner when it's good. Truly joyful people don't completely meltdown when there is adversity. Russ, even after suffering one of the must gut-wrenching losses I have ever seen in sports stood there and took it. He was still truly upset he lost, but he truly has joy and isn't a front runner.
If you are going to be a loud mouth all year, then at least have the courage to say when you lose, "they finally shut me up".
Again, and most importantly, what does that tell you that in other players happiest moments all they wanted to do was go at Cam. This isn't the media tearing someone down. These are his own peers. Men of the same color and what is supposed to be a brotherhood. They don't like him and couldn't wait to take their shots at him. That speaks volumes to who Cam is.

Greatness? I know Laker fan has fallen on hard times, but I thought titles were the measure of greatness? Guys don't take shots like that at Manning/Brady/Russ etc..and they are great and have won SuperBowls and MVPS (no Russ). Why is that?
No doubt Cam is a great player and had a great year - but he fell short and this really has nothing to do with that. Don't think anyone really denies his talent. But a lot of people did suspect that he could be rattled and would meltdown and they were proven emphatically true.

You're a serial thinker.. Which means you're limited..,,most successful people think in parallel....greatness and titles arent mutually exclusive.....Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, John Stockton, Patrick Ewing, George Garvin are all great players... regardless of titles or a lack thereof....
You are also all over the map..learn to stick to an issue a topic and stop all the gotdam pivoting... That doesn't make any sense when I specifically said he's a great player & a fine person off the field. You are the one pivoting here. Barkley, Malone, etc..earned greatness by winning over a long period - despite not winning a title. Cam had one breakout season so far. The guys you mentioned are considered all-time greats and Cam is no where near that.
If he continues on this path then the hate will subside no matter how he acts. But at this point, with the limited winning he has done, people don't like him including his peers.
I have no quarrel with it...and I like Peyton ;-)
I'm sure you do.

And also, it's not just me. A bunch of Cam's peers spoke out on what's considered classy. That's my point. You don't have to be like everyone else, but there's no denying that what Cam does/did is way different than most leaders and not in a good way.
You can say "he doesn't have to be a leader" or "he doesn't care" which is fine. He doesn't have to be. But when people are talking about leadership and class, with regards to how he conducts himself with the media (a big part of his role as a team leader and highly paid athlete) he comes off poorly.
He is a front runner and show boat when things go well (which is fine), just be a leader when things go wrong in large part due to your fault (which is why his peers don't respect him).

"I hate losing," Newton told reporters. "Who likes to lose? You show me a good loser. I'll show you a loser.

Nah - the world knows who Cam is in these moments. He's a talented guy who had a great year and has a lot of fun when winning. He bails on everything when he loses even though he's a good guy (seemingly) off the field.
He's a first class idiot if he thinks Russell Willson or anyone likes losing. He's no more competitive than any other athlete. His only difference is he's an emotional front runner.

Also, no one is saying YOU can't like both. Plenty of people do. But it's like Duncan fans vs Kobe fans, it's typically hard to root for both types. I don't dislike Kobe because I think he's a terrible player. I just learned to love team because of his quiet greatness without the side shows like Kobe.

That doesn't make any sense in context of what we are discussing. Everyone now (fans and media) have Tim over Kobe in all time rankings. People like Tim for the same reasons they like Manning/Russ Wilson. They dislike Cam for the same reason people dislike Kobe.
Kobe and Cam still have a ton of fans and maybe more than guys like Duncan, but in the context of this convo it's the same thing. People love to hate guys like Cam/Kobe and if you aren't winning a ton, the heat gets turned up. Cam had one great year and crumbled and handled it poorly. The heat is on. If he keeps having success, people won't hate as much.
But look at what happens when the losing sets in. Media, fans, etc....are open season on Kobe now that the losing has set in. It's not racist or unique to Cam. Cam isn't special in any regard when it comes to personality with big time athletes.

I've already proven why Tim is inferior to Kobe based on position alone...being enamored with gays is the in thing tbh... Basketball wise Tim didn't hold a candle to Kobe...I wouldn't want the accolades knowing the media protects me because ikiss their asses....he brought a bronze home, never defended his title, got cucked lost a title by blowing 2 wide open layups , wife left him and he got robbed of 25 million out of sheer stupidity...sure theres some non basketball shit in there but he doesn't hold a candle to Kobe...never had to work as hard as Kobe...I don't respect a player like that

Ultimately not a big deal and will be interesting to see how he rebounds and if he has a great career. Also, it's not race, he's the damn MVP of the NFL and it was the Super Bowl where he showed his ass so of course it's going to be discussed.
