View Full Version : Lakers: 'WOJ: Strong belief' that Phil Jackson will return to Lakers

RsxPiimp
02-09-2016, 03:08 PM
In the aftermath of the New York Knicks' unexpected firing of head coach Derek Fisher, Adrian Wojnarowski of the Vertical reports that there is "strong belief Jackson will eventually find his way to his fiancée Jeanie Buss and the Los Angeles Lakers," possibly with Luke Walton or Tom Thibodeau as head coach.

Jackson has previously stated that he is no longer interested in coaching, and the Lakers currently have front office staff in place with vice president of basketball operations Jim Buss and longtime general manager Mitch Kupchak. Additionally, Lakers president Jeanie Buss has previously stated that her brother has until his self-imposed deadline of the summer of 2017 to turn the Lakers around, so Jackson entering this summer would seem unlikely.

That's 2 sources now (SAS being the other one). Could it be? Should it be Lakerfans?:wow

Phil can't turn around the Lakers. He's done a decent job with the Knicks but what's going to hurt him is his inability to let go of the triangle offense and find a good coach. Luke is going to be a shitty coach.

Odumb was "great" as a 3rd wheel or 6th man. He was inconsistent at best as 2nd fiddle. One game he'd give us 22/11/7. The next 5 games he'd be like 8/9/4 with dumbass decisions like this:

Choked on 20+ FTA in the 4th quarter (that's hilarious, no team has that, and the Lakers have THREE such games, ALL elimination games, over a span of 11 years). Incredible.

He was fine with the Clippers and the Heat. Those teams finished with similar records as the Lakers with Odom as the 1st or 2nd option (along with Elton Brand and Eddie Jones). So I guess Kobe is as good as Brand and Jones at their peaks.

Ask LkrFan. He wants to blame Odom and the others on Kobe doing horribly (from a team success perspective for a supposed top 15 players) in his prime, while using team success (repeats) as some sort of gauge for greatness, and dismissing missing the playoffs on the failure of teammates.

Odom's teams put up similar records with Elton Brand and Eddie Jones as his running mate, perhaps he can answer why.

We're paying for past sins (AKA the Nash trade, most notably). Once the debts (tanking for lotto picks because we traded picks away) are paid, our trips to the lottery will cease. We have one more piece (Ben Simmons, hopefully) to add then we'll go back to building a competent roster.

The new CBA forced our hands. The haters of the Lakers are laughing it up right now, but I guarantee you the owners are not. We haven't given out food stamps in the form of luxury taxes in a few years now.

If we play our cards right, not only will we have one of the youngest rosters, we'll also have one of the lowest payrolls too as evidenced by our ~$66M in cap space we can spend starting this summer.

Some Laker Fans may disagree, but I am good with where we are. This summer is critical for our future. So we bet not fuck it up. :lol
