Beyond retarded that it hasn't. Orlando must be salty as f**k that he made the right career move bolting them after getting broomed in the ECF in '96.

What did Shaq do for Orlando that would make them want to retire his number?

Had more class than Dwight. That's worth an award.

You should never demand your number be retired. You cannot move to that many teams and expect each of them to honor you. Hell you didn't honor them.

He only played 4 seasons there, didn't win a title, and then spurned them for LA.. Why would they retire his jersey? Makes no sense.

This. Took a massive dump on the city and wants them to worship him? Laughable.

If you retire Shaq's then you have to retire Dwight's. At least Dwight won a game in the finals.

Exactly. Shaq didn't stick around at all. He didn't bother coming back either even though he could have. Shaq has hated everything Orlando inside his conscience. Even when the Magic honored him the other season, he was awkward to be around on the commentary table with all this forced laughter in between Steele and Turner. Its all because the Magic didn't give him the contract he wanted. When the Magic conjured up the money, it was too late. They were going to offer him a similar contract.

Shaq would rather boost the Lakers or Heat than the Magic.

Shaq only played 4 seasons for the Magic and Dwight Howard surpassed him and stats lead. Dwight played 8 seasons with the Magic and is far more worth of the honor than Shaq is.

You guys were madder than a wet hen when he left for the Lakers.

I wasn't a fan when he left for the Lakers. Everyone else was mad.

I was in Orlando the day he left. It was like a fucking funeral everywhere you went. Oddly it was the same day that TWA flight 800 crashed so there was no shortage of depressing shit going on.

Maybe he wants to be like Wilt and have his jersey retired by three franchises.

But he was more than twice the player Dwight ever was, so it still balances in Shaq's favor... :lol

Come on, man...remember the good times with young Shaq? He was a beast with a soft touch.

So, they should embrace their lack of greatness?

Orlando was a legit franchise during the 90s and that one year in 2009. WTF happened man? Best jerseys in the NBA hands down

I wouldn't retire either of their numbers, honestly.

Pretty much, yeah. If your franchise has zero titles, but a top 10 all time player was on it for 4 years, go ahead and retire his jersey. It was one of their best moments.

F that. Retiring numbers just to have them retired is lame.

It's lame regardless,,,like rings of honor, halls of fame.
