It is an awesome record to have one which I feel will never be broken. I think this record will be more sacred then the bulls 72 win record.

I'm not pissed at Curry's historic level of play. The Duncan Era is writing it's own history. Someone remind me what the Lakers are doing right now.:lol

Really should be 19 seasons - in '99 they went 37-13, which is a pace for well over 50 wins.

Regardless of what happens this year in the playoffs, what an incredible run this has been over the past 2 decades :toast

You know what props to this. The Curries maybe having a historic season but the Spurs have had the two decades of historic, consistent basketball. That overall is unappreciated and overshadowed as its always been.

The Spurs are having an historical season. Only 6 teams in the history of the NBA have gotten to 50 wins faster and the Spurs playoff clinch (which should come in the next few days) will be one of the earliest ever. They have an historically great scoring margin, an historically significant home winning streak, and that's only what they've done this season.

That seems less true because GST has been even better. But the historical marks are still historical.

But it does suck to realize what it must have been like to be a mid-00's Suns fan or a Pre-2011 Mavs fan.

Agreed. Golden State will implode at some point in the near future. Curry is already in his late 20s with shaky ankles and the rest of that roster is dependent on the space created by Curry.

17 straight 50 win seasons will not be broken in a long long long long time. Unless they increase the number of regular season games......

BTW, San Antonio is positioned to put a few more 50 +win seasons on the board with the younger portion of their core.

i remember how it was considered crazy that we kept our streak alive during the lockout shortened season (went 50-16)... and then you realize right now they're 50-9

A record i feel may never be broken..

It would especially unbreakable if they pro-rated the first strike year. Then you add on 2 more to the record (Timmy's rookie year, and the 99 championship) bringing it to 19. Scary thing is with Kawhi and LMA, and RC being RC, it could go on for a while longer.

Actually, he's 6th.

Indeed. I was looking at the combined NBA/ABA list where he's only 7th (Artis Gilmore is above him in this case).

I'm not sure if the Spurs will be able to win consistently when Duncan retires. Even in this season when he doesn't play, the Spurs struggle to win games. When Kawhi doesn't play the Spurs can't keep the opponents under 100 but still win games. I think it's one of the cases when stats don't show the true impact of the player.

In year 17 (or 19) of this streak, the Spurs became one of only 8 teams in NBA history to have won at least 51 of its first 60 games.

Only 4 teams in all of history have won more than 51 of their first 60:

1 CHI 1995-96 60 54 6 .900
2 GSW 2015-16 59 54 5 .915
3 CHI 1996-97 60 53 7 .883
4 PHI 1966-67 60 52 8 .867
5 LAL 1971-72 60 51 9 .850
6 PHI 1982-83 60 51 9 .850
7 DAL 2006-07 60 51 9 .850
8 SAS 2015-16 60 51 9 .850

Spurs have been overshadowed by greater teams(Lakers and Dubs) during their run but they have been the most consistent and most well-run franchise in the NBA the past 20 years

Great humble insult. :lmao Warriors overshadowing the Spurs during this run. This is the only season where the Warriors have gotten respect and attention over the spurs which is understandable. Even last year the media was calling the Warriors a fluke team. Also the Lakers were only relevant during '00-'02 and '08-'10 during this run outside of those years they were dog shit. The Lakers have been irrelevant since 2010 that's 6 years. Success and longevity is what gets your remembered in this league. It's the reason why the 80's showtime lakers have a greater legacy than the Shaq-Kobe lakers or the Gasol-Kobe Lakers. The '00 Lakers had the success but they didn't have the longevity. The Warriors will also not have the longevity. If they win this year they probably 3 peat but I don't see them going beyond that.
